This disciplinary action comes as a direct response to a recent high-profile confrontation between the “African Giant” and the well-known DJ Tunez.

The drama unfolded this past Monday at “Obi’s House,” a staple weekly Afrobeats concert held in Lagos. What was meant to be a night of music and celebration took a sharp turn when a heated disagreement broke out between the two industry heavyweights.

Reports have it that the verbal spat quickly escalated into a physical brawl. Members of Burna Boy’s entourage allegedly joined the fray until bystanders were forced to intervene to stop the violence and restore order to the venue.

While the exact cause of the argument remains a mystery, online chatter suggests the tension stems from the famous rivalry between Burna Boy and Wizkid, given DJ Tunez’s close ties to the “Starboy” camp.

In light of the drama, the Nigerian DJ Association (NDJ) took to Instagram with a detailed response, denouncing all forms of hostility and calling for a new era of professional respect and solidarity within the industry.

The association’s message emphasized that hatred is a learned behavior, quoting that if individuals can be taught to hate, they can certainly be taught to love—a quality they believe is more natural to the human spirit.

They argued that if these values aren’t respected within their own industry, they won’t mean anything in the wider world. The association believes that if they don’t protect their own members right here at home, the Nigerian DJing community will never truly move forward.

Moreover, the group called for total tolerance across the board, urging everyone to cast aside prejudices based on background or status. They emphasized that for the profession to truly thrive, every DJ must have the freedom and equality to succeed, noting that the community can’t grow if some members are being suppressed.

To back this up, the group officially pulled Burna Boy’s songs from their rotation. They announced that his music will remain off their playlists indefinitely while a specialized team investigates the clash involving DJ Tunez.

So far, Burna Boy has stayed silent on the matter, offering no public reaction or statement regarding the fight or the subsequent ban.

Music The Nigerian DJ Association (NDJ) has officially prohibited the play of Burna Boy’s music across various platforms.
