Amanda Bynes Reveals Inspiration Behind New Song \u201cGirlfriend\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Bring in the dancing lobsters\u2014because <\/span>Amanda Bynes<\/strong><\/a> has new music.<\/span><\/p>\n The <\/span>Amanda Show <\/span><\/em>alum is releasing \u201cGirlfriend,\u201d her first song in four years, on Apple Music and Spotify April 10.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cMy inspiration was a lot of EDM,\u201d Amanda exclusively told E! News of her single, \u201cas well as rap.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Indeed, the 40-year-old is mixing genres with the track, which also taps Los Angeles-based rapper <\/span>Fenix Flexin<\/strong>. As Amanda\u2019s label Create Music Group\u2014which has worked with <\/span>Jason Derulo<\/strong>, <\/span>Keri Hilson<\/strong> and <\/span>Deadmau5<\/strong>\u2014put it, the song \u201cblends melodic rap with EDM-inspired production, creating a catchy, high-replay record with a smooth West Coast bounce.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cBuilt around a strong hook and confident, flirt-heavy energy,\u201d the label continued in a statement, \u201cit\u2019s designed for repeat listens and wide playlist appeal.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Amanda first teased her return to music in February, when she announced that she and Fenix were working together on something <\/span>she described<\/span><\/a> as \u201cstraight fire.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n The <\/span>She\u2019s the Man<\/span><\/em> actress initially got into the rap game in 2021, <\/span>releasing a 58-second track<\/span><\/a> \u201cDiamonds\u201d with then-fianc\u00e9 <\/span>Paul Michael<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cDiamonds, diamonds, diamonds on my neck, on my wrist,\u201d she rapped at the time. \u201cDiamonds, diamonds, diamonds on my fist, yeah, I whip.”\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The duo dropped a longer version of the song, as well as another single titled \u201cFairfax,\u201d in 2022.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n <\/span>Amanda Bynes<\/span><\/p>\n<\/section>\n Amanda\u2019s latest project marks an extension of her creative endeavors following her graduation from Los Angeles\u2019 Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in 2019. Beyond music, she has dipped her toe into podcasting with <\/span>Paul Sieminski<\/strong> by launching <\/span>Amanda Bynes & Paul Sieminski: The Podcast<\/span><\/em> in 2023.<\/span><\/p>\n Plus, she <\/span>participated in an art show<\/span><\/a> and clothing pop-up in December 2024, where she featured multiple pieces of her art.
