Brandon Lake is making inroads in country music via collabs with Nashville stars like Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
\n\tChristianity has always been a key component of country music<\/a>, from the Louvin Brothers\u2019 Satan Is Real<\/em> way back in 1959 to Carrie Underwood\u2019s faith-based 2021 album My Savior<\/em>. Now, Contemporary Christian artist Brandon Lake<\/a> is having crossover success through collaborations with country stars like Jelly Roll<\/a> and Lainey Wilson<\/a>, and is gearing up for his own country album. On Good Friday, Lake and Wilson will release their new song together, \u201cThe Jesus I Know Now.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tIn this week\u2019s episode of Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2019s Nashville Now<\/em> podcast, the Grammy-winning South Carolina native talks about his inroads to Nashville, teaming up with Jelly Roll, and the message he\u2019s trying to share in his songs like \u201cHard Fought Hallelujah\u201d and \u201cWhen a Cowboy Prays.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tHe also broaches the topic of where religion and politics intersect, a line that has become increasingly blurry over the last year. Is Lake worried about Christianity being exploited by politics?<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m human, so yes I worry,\u201d Lake says. \u201cI believe that God\u2019s bigger than it all. I think he\u2019s above it all.
