For iFani the journey to this moment has been anything but straightforward. After parting ways with Sony Music, his catalogue was pulled from major platforms, leaving fans scrambling. During the height of the Covid 19 pandemic in 2020, messages flooded in from supporters begging him to re-upload his music. At the time, he was chilling in the township with no money or means to make it happen. <\/p>\n

The pleas never stopped. Through 2021 and 2022, as South Africa shifted heavily to streaming services, the requests grew louder. In 2023, iFani made the move to Johannesburg. He signed a distribution deal and finally dropped the first instalment of his Quadrant series. Around the same time, a producer introduced him to Tswyza, who pitched a wildly creative idea: an entire interview conducted through rap verses.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love the idea! Let\u2019s do it,\u201d iFani recalls.<\/p>\n

The pair shot the episode in 2024. When it dropped on YouTube in 2025, it marked iFani\u2019s official re entry into the public eye. Streams that had been languishing around 100 suddenly jumped to 1,000, then 100,000. But nothing prepared him for what happened next.<\/p>\n

Out of nowhere in early 2026, \u201cShake\u201d exploded. It rocketed past 500,000 streams, and then the TikTok floodgates opened. In his heartfelt Instagram message, iFani<\/a> extended deep thanks to every content creator keeping the song alive. \u201cEnkosi to everyone creating content ngalengoma. It was a struggle. But thanks to you, that struggle is OVER.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n

He even has a special request for fans spotting \u201cShake\u201d videos on TikTok: drop a comment saying \u201ciFani thanks you!\u201d to show love to the creators bringing him back to life.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, the momentum shows no signs of slowing. iFani revealed that his 3rd Quadrant is already signed to a label and primed for a chart run this year. On his birthday, he plans to finally upload the long-awaited 2nd Quadrant, featuring the singles \u201cAyadelela\u201d and \u201cFebruary.\u201d <\/p>\n

For a song released when many of today\u2019s TikTok dancers were still in primary school, \u201cShake\u201d proving it still has legs in 2026 is a powerful reminder of music\u2019s staying power and the unpredictable force of social media.<\/p>\n
