{"id":899131,"date":"2026-04-14T13:19:04","date_gmt":"2026-04-14T18:19:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2026\/04\/14\/golf-woods-to-return-from-13-months-out-in-tgl-finale\/"},"modified":"2026-04-14T13:19:04","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T18:19:04","slug":"golf-woods-to-return-from-13-months-out-in-tgl-finale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2026\/04\/14\/golf-woods-to-return-from-13-months-out-in-tgl-finale\/","title":{"rendered":"Golf: Woods to return from 13 months out in TGL finale"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<figure>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"250\" alt title=\"golf tiger wood (1)\" data-old-src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%20350%20250'%3E%3C\/svg%3E\" src=\"https:\/\/blueprint.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/golf-tiger-wood-1.jpeg\"><br \/>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Tiger Woods will play competitive golf for the first time in more than a year at the final night of the TGL season on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The 50-year-old, who has had a series of operations in the last two years, has been sidelined since\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/golf\/articles\/cy505qvr762o\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>having an operation in October<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0to replace a disk in his back.<\/p>\n<p>His last competitive appearance came at TGL in February 2025, while his last appearance on the PGA Tour came 20 months ago.<\/p>\n<p>Woods\u2019 Jupiter Links Golf Club X account posted a photo of the 15-time major winner, accompanied with the caption: \u201cI\u2019m back.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He has held a non-playing role with Jupiter Links GC throughout the 2026 TGL season \u2013 an indoor PGA Tour-backed set-up that uses a huge screen in a purpose-built venue in Florida.<\/p>\n<p>Woods\u2019 side beat Rory McIlroy\u2019s Boston Common in last week\u2019s semi-final to set up a meeting with Los Angeles Golf Club in the best-of-three final.<\/p>\n<p>Los Angeles, featuring England\u2019s Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood, won the opening match, with Woods now replacing Kevin Kisner for Tuesday\u2019s season finale.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking last month, Woods said competing in the Masters from 9-12 April is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/sport\/golf\/articles\/ceqvjd0npreo\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cnot off the table\u201d.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI said I\u2019ve been working on it. Sometimes I have good days, sometimes I have bad days. Disc replacement is not a lot of fun,\u201d said Woods, who has won the opening major of the season five times.<\/p>\n<p>However, hitting balls in an indoor venue with largely flat lies is a world away from walking the hilly terrain of Augusta National.<\/p>\n<p>Following severe leg injuries in a 2021 car crash, the American had a back operation in September 2024 and then suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon last March.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve had a lot of procedures prior to that, so the body doesn\u2019t quite heal like it was when I was 24.
