And that’s why this PFSN’s analyst has floated the idea of drafting Notre Dame’s Jeremiyah Love.

Football Jeremiyah Love Is the Missing Piece in the Commanders’ Offense

For an offense trying to find balance, the answer might be sitting right at the top of the draft board, and if you ask PFSN’s Jacob Infante, the Washington-Love fit feels almost too clean.

On the latest episode of PFSN’s Football Debate Club, Infante pointed to Washington as the ideal landing spot when asked which top-10 team makes the most sense for the Notre Dame running back.

He said, “I’m going to go with the Washington Commanders at number seven, like Ian touched on. That’s possible. They have Jacori Croskey-Merritt, who was really good for a seventh-round pick, but he ranked just 27th in PFSN’s running back impact scoring last year.

“And when you have a team like Washington, where they had the fourth-highest run percentage at 50.8 in 2025, having a standout running back like Jeremiyah Love would take the pressure off Jayden Daniels in year three. It’s also worth noting Washington hasn’t had a 1,000-yard rusher since 2021. That’s something that would definitely change with Jeremiyah Love.”

It has been four years since the franchise last produced a 1,000-yard rusher. The longer that drought continues, the more extra weight it keeps putting on the passing game. In turn, young quarterback Daniels will bear the brunt of it.

Love’s profile suggests that if they draft him, he can be an instant fix. NFL draft analyst Lance Zierlein described him as a three-phase back with game-breaking speed and untapped receiving upside, capable of stressing defenses in multiple ways.

His ability to accelerate through lanes, erase pursuit angles, and contribute as a route runner out of the backfield gives him true three-down value.

Take a Quick Break. Love rushed for 1,372 yards on 6.9 yards per carry with 18 touchdowns in just 12 games last season, ranking among the nation’s best across the board. He also added 27 receptions for 280 yards and three scores.

From an evaluation standpoint, he is ‘The Deal’. Love ranks as the No. 4 Overall prospect on the PFSN Consensus Big Board, while also finishing with a 92.4 score in PFSN’s CFB RB Impact Metric, the fourth-highest among college running backs.

BE AN NFL GM: PFSN’s Ultimate GM Simulator

Anyone would love to add a prospect with such projections, especially Washington, because his presence would shift the burden off Daniels. A reliable, explosive run game forces defenses to respect the ground attack, opens up play-action, and keeps the offense out of predictable passing situations. Young quarterbacks need that kind of strong support to focus on other aspects of their game.

Read More Talib Haider

Despite deploying the NFL’s fourth-heaviest run scheme last season, the Commanders are missing a true alpha in the backfield.
