Demolition specialist Erith has reported a 4 per cent drop in annual profit despite a double-digit turnover boost, saying growth was hampered by rising costs.<\/p>\n

The London-based firm, which is the<\/span> UK\u2019s largest demolition contractor,<\/span><\/a> recorded a pre-tax profit of \u00a38m in the year to the end of September 2025. This compares with an \u00a38.4m haul the year before.<\/span><\/p>\n

The drop came despite turnover in the group\u2019s latest year hitting \u00a3285m, up 12 per cent on the previous year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Erith\u2019s bottom line was affected by a 12 per cent rise in costs to \u00a3256.4m, the accounts revealed.<\/span><\/p>\n

This contributed to the pre-tax margin shrinking from 3.7 per cent to 2.8 per cent.<\/span><\/p>\n

Erith had 577 staff in its latest financial year, up from 553.<\/span><\/p>\n

Chair Steve Darsey said the results \u201creflect our management strategy to grow the business while maintaining profitability\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Erith\u2019s group activities include demolition, land remediation, asbestos removal, waste handling and recycling.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2023, the firm was one of 10 demolition contractors to be<\/span> hit with collective fines totalling \u00a359.3m<\/span><\/a> for their involvement in bid rigging. Erith<\/span> repaid its \u00a317.6m fine two and a half years early<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Looking ahead, the group said it expects to maintain its current level of turnover this year due to a \u201cstrong forward order book\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
