This Kentucky city should be on your radar.<\/i><\/a>)<\/p>\n<h2>Boston, Massachusetts\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>While Boston is\u00a0deeply tied to\u00a0U.S.\u00a0history,\u00a0a fleet of\u00a0English\u00a0immigrants\u00a0founded the city\u00a0in\u00a01630, modeling it after their former home.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe town\u2019s earliest homes, meeting houses, public buildings, and public streets reflected those found in London and other old English cities,\u201d says Susan Wilson, the\u00a0<a data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/www.omnihotels.com\/hotels\/boston-parker-house\" target=\"_blank\" dir=\"ltr\">Omni Parker House<\/a>\u00a0historian.\u00a0The\u00a0best\u00a0place to\u00a0admire that likeness, says Wilson,\u00a0is\u00a0in Beacon Hill.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeacon Hill, topped by the gold-domed State House and developed in the late 18th and 19th centuries, features narrow, picturesque streets and alleys, Federal-style row houses, wrought iron railings, ornate doorways, fan lights, and real gas lamps. There\u00a0are\u00a0fifth-, sixth-, seventh-generation families that are still living here,\u201d says\u00a0McKenzie Moellering, who leads marketing and communications for\u00a0<a data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/www.pioneermuseum.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" dir=\"ltr\">Pioneer Museum Fredericksburg<\/a>, which\u00a0shares\u00a0a glimpse\u00a0into\u00a0how German settlers lived in the 1800s\u00a0following\u00a0the town\u2019s\u00a0founding in\u00a01846.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur\u00a0historic Main Street\u00a0does not have any chain stores and will never because the city has\u00a0made an effort\u00a0to\u00a0keep\u00a0it unique,\u201d says Moellering.\u00a0\u201cFredericksburg has shopping, a booming wine industry, history dating\u00a0back to the 1840s,\u00a0and\u00a0over 120\u00a0restaurants, many of which serve authentic German cuisine.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Local favorites include\u00a0<a data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/www.oldgermanbakeryandrestaurant.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" dir=\"ltr\">Old German Bakery &#038; Restaurant<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ottosfbg.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" dir=\"ltr\">Otto&#8217;s German Bistro<\/a>, while beer lovers should stop by\u00a0<a data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/www.yourbrewery.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" dir=\"ltr\">Fredericksburg Brewing Company<\/a>.\u00a0October visits are also well timed for\u00a0<a data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/www.oktoberfestinfbg.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" dir=\"ltr\">Fredericksburg Oktoberfest<\/a>,\u00a0when\u00a0the town square\u00a0buzzes with polka music, family-friendly activities, and plenty of ice-cold pints of German beer.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Visitors may stay\u00a0in\u00a0one of the area\u2019s Sunday Houses.
