Iran US Israel War Ceasefire News Live Updates:<\/strong> United States President Donald Trump said the US would pause its planned strikes on Iran for two weeks, provided Tehran agrees to a ceasefire and reopens the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n

\nThe announcement came less than two hours before a previously set 8 pm deadline for potential US military action against Iran was due to expire.<\/p>\n

\nIn a post on Truth Social, Trump said the decision followed conversations with Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir.<\/p>\n

\n“Based on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir, of Pakistan, and wherein they requested that I hold off the destructive force being sent tonight to Iran, and subject to the Islamic Republic of Iran agreeing to the COMPLETE, IMMEDIATE, and SAFE OPENING of the Strait of Hormuz, I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks,” Trump wrote.<\/p>\n

\nHe described the move as a \u201cdouble-sided ceasefire\u201d and claimed the US had already achieved its military objectives while negotiations toward a long-term agreement were progressing.<\/p>\n

\nTrump further said Washington had received a 10-point proposal from Iran which he described as \u201ca workable basis on which to negotiate.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\u201cAlmost all of the various points of past contention have been agreed to between the United States and Iran, but a two-week period will allow the Agreement to be finalised and consummated,” he added.<\/p>\n
