He avoids unnecessary exposure to the intense heat, especially when riding his motorcycle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf there is nothing to do, I spend more time at home,\u201d he explained. He added that going outside now causes his skin to feel sore from the sun.<\/p>\n<p>Another resident, Nur Suraya Johari, 27, now carries an umbrella whenever she leaves the house for protection. She is particularly cautious about taking her young children out in the dangerous conditions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn this situation, taking care of my health and drinking enough water is very important,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n<p>For some, the extreme weather has brought an unexpected business boost. Sugarcane juice trader Mahdi Hassan, 46, reported that his sales have doubled.<\/p>\n<p>His daily sales have increased from around 40 kilogrammes to approximately 80 kilogrammes, often selling out by mid-afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>The Malaysian Meteorological Department confirmed the heat wave conditions yesterday. The entire state of Perlis and four districts in Kedah are under a Level 2 alert.<\/p>\n<p>Thirteen other areas in Peninsular Malaysia are at Level 1.
