The series examines different forms of addiction through multiple characters, spanning themes from crime and social issues to coming-of-age elements.<\/p>\n<div data-pmc-adm-ad-id=\"1234758890\">\n<h3>\n\t\t\tPopular on Variety\t\t<\/h3>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\n\t<br \/>Following \u201cAddicted,\u201d the narrative feature \u201cHaru and Tae\u201d marks another highlight of the showcase. Directed by Japanese filmmaker Akira Ikeda, the project previously drew attention in 2022 when it received the Golden Horse Film Project Promotion \u2013 Vision Award. Starring Taiwanese actors Kuan-Ting Liu and Ke-Fang Sun, the film uses a fantasy-driven narrative to explore themes of family and generational ties.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<br \/>Both projects will present exclusive first-look materials, including never-before-seen stills and footage at the Taiwan Spotlight. The directors and main cast will also be present to share insights and stories from the productions.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<br \/>Taiwan will also maintain a strong presence at FilMart, with its pavilion hosting 106 companies showcasing 242 titles across diverse genres, with Taiwanese talents displaying singular voices and international ambition. Notable entries include Taiwan\u2019s first single-shot horror film, \u201cSuffocation,\u201d which has been selected for the 2026 Cinequest Film Festival \u2013 Horror, Thriller &#038; Fantasy Feature Competition. The feature \u201cI Blew Out the Candles Before Making a Wish\u201d explores themes of money, family and responsibility.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<br \/>The romantic comedy \u201cLabour of love\u201d explores contemporary relationships and the complexities of love and commitment in today\u2019s society. The documentary \u201cRipple\u201d offers a grounded look at life in Bengbu, China, following fishermen and their families who have left the water to rebuild their lives on land. The project was selected for the 2024 Feature-Length Documentary Program of the China Film Foundation \u2013 Women Filmmakers Special Fund.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<br \/>Taiwan is highlighting its international co-productions at HAF. Topping the slate is \u201cMama Mia Let Me Go!\u201d (Hong Kong\/South Korea\/Taiwan), selected for the In-Development Project (IDP) program, alongside three other works-in-progress aiming for post-production funding.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<br \/>\u201cMany projects, films and TV series gain valuable exposure at FilMart and the chance to be discovered by international festivals, which can lead to future selections and wider global recognition,\u201d TAICCA chair Sue Wang says. \u201cThe market also serves as an important starting point for the year\u2019s international engagement.
