The U.S. women\u2019s national team\u2019s April roster will see the return of two key faces.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Sophia Wilson and Tierna Davidson are back with the USWNT for April\u2019s trio of home friendlies against Japan, U.S. Soccer announced Wednesday. In addition, Trinity Rodman, Alyssa Thompson, Lily Yohannes, and Sam Coffey were also among the April call-ups on the 26-player roster.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Head coach Emma Hayes will name 23 players for each of the matches.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cAs our team continues to evolve, it will be great to welcome back Sophia and Tierna, who are not only great players but also contribute positively to our team environment,\u201d said Hayes. \u201cJapan is undoubtedly one of the top teams in the world, and they are performing at\u00a0a very high\u00a0level coming off their Asian Cup title, which was impressive to watch. Playing the same country three times in a row,\u00a0and especially a team that is\u00a0as\u00a0dedicated to their style\u00a0as\u00a0Japan,\u00a0will be a massive test for our team and\u00a0I\u2019m\u00a0looking forward to seeing how our team handles the\u00a0numerous\u00a0challenges these games will present.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Wilson, a member of the \u201cTriple Espresso\u201d front line who helped lead the USWNT to the 2024 Olympic gold medal, makes her first USWNT roster\u202fin\u202f17\u00a0months\u00a0following\u00a0her pregnancy and the birth of her daughter in early September 2025.\u202fThe 25-year-old\u202fWilson\u202fhas earned 58 caps for the USWNT\u00a0to date, scoring 24 goals<\/p>\n

Davidson, 27, has made a complete recovery from an ACL injury suffered in NWSL play at the beginning of the 2025 season. She returns to the USWNT after a 13-month absence and has earned 67 caps to date.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The USWNT will begin its three-game series against Japan in San Jose, Calif. at PayPal Park on April 11. The two sides will then shift to Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington on April 14 before closing their series on April 17 at DICK\u2019S Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Japan is fresh off a successful run at the 2026 AFC Women\u2019s Asian Cup in Australia, outscoring its opposition 29-1. They defeated the host\u00a0Matildas 1-0 in the title game.<\/p>\n
