The main difference here is the display coating. While the older model has a matte finish, the new MO27Q28GR offers buyers a glossy option for the same 280Hz Tandem OLED panel, serving as an alternative to the Asus ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG (curr: $649 at Amazon). Both panel finishes have their own advantages, but glossy panels tend to deliver more vibrant colors and deeper blacks, especially in well-lit environments.

Gigabyte RealBlack Glossy WOLED panel vs. semi-glossy OLED.

That said, the MO27Q28GR is priced at the same $599.99 at Amazon as the matte version, making it $50 cheaper than the Asus ROG Strix OLED XG27AQWMG, which is currently available for $649. Moreover, the Gigabyte model adds a built-in KVM switch and a USB-C port, albeit with only 15W Power Delivery. On the other hand, spending $50 more on the Asus model gets you a proximity sensor designed to help reduce burn-in.
