Anna Camp Comes Out as Bisexual<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Anna Camp<\/strong> isn’t afraid to share her truth.<\/p>\n

Nearly one year after the Pitch Perfect<\/em>\u00a0actress confirmed her relationship with girlfriend <\/a>Jade Whipkey<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0last May, she shared insight into her journey with her sexuality, and why she is now coming out publicly as bisexual.<\/p>\n

“As a 43-year-old woman, I am very proud of myself for owning my sexuality at this age,\u201d Anna said on the March 10 episode of the I’ve Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDario<\/em><\/a> podcast in a clip obtained by People<\/em><\/a>. \u201cI am a very strong person for doing it in somewhat of a spotlight with people criticizing and judging and making assumptions. I’m really proud to be bisexual.”<\/p>\n

The You<\/em>\u00a0star\u2014who was previously married to Michael Mosley<\/strong>\u00a0from 2010 until 2013 and Pitch Perfect<\/em>\u00a0costar Skylar Austin<\/strong>\u00a0from 2016 until 2019\u2014admitted that she’s gone through “a major evolution in my 40s” and she’s embracing “not being afraid of it.”<\/p>\n

\u201cSure, there are times I feel like I am taking a risk and this is scary and I\u2019m doing it in a public forum,” she explained. “But to say, \u2018No, I only get one life and I want to be happy,\u2019 that\u2019s what life is all about.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

While the\u00a0How I Met Your Mother<\/em> alum acknowledged that this isn’t exactly how she pictured her life, she’s also more than ready to embrace where she’s found herself.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou think you’ve got this idea of who you are and that’s how your life is going to go,\u201d Anna noted. \u201cAnd that’s happened to me several times in my life, where I thought that I knew what was happening. And it could have stopped in that way. I could have settled. I could have said, no, I’m done evolving.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

It’s a sentiment that she’d previously expressed after confirming her romance with Jade.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just want to share that it is never too late to evolve into your truest self,\u201d Anna told\u00a0Out Magazine<\/em><\/a> in October. \u201cDismantling the mask of armor I had created for myself in order to navigate and survive taught me just that. I was merely surviving, not really living. And now I finally feel like I’m becoming the real Anna, thriving and alive.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThe largest obstacle I faced this year personally was juggling the emotions about coming out in my 40s,\u201d she added at the time. \u201cWhich included guilt for not embracing it sooner and excitement for finally being free from the constraints that had been placed on me by society and my upbringing.\u201d<\/p>\n

While the “Flowers” singer was never a big fan of labels, she came out as pansexual<\/a> in 2016.<\/p>\n

“My whole life, I didn’t understand my own gender and my own sexuality,” she revealed to Variety <\/em>in October 2016. “I always hated the word ‘bisexual,’ because that’s even putting me in a box. I don’t ever think about someone being a boy or someone being a girl.”<\/p>\n

She continued, “Also, my nipple pasties and s–t never felt sexualized to me. My eyes started opening in the fifth or sixth grade. My first relationship in my life was with a chick.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

For Matt, coming out to his conservative Christian family marked the start of a new era in his life.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Telling your family is a huge, huge deal,” the White Collar<\/em> alum, who shares three kids with husband Simon Halls<\/strong>, previously told OUT Magazine<\/em>.\u00a0“I really view my life as divided between the time before I told my parents, and the time after. And the decisions I made, and the life I lived, before and after, are vastly different. It’s night and day.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

“I was scared of flamboyantly gay people because I was taught that,” she told Rolling Stone<\/em>. “[I realized] people hate flamboyantly gay people because it just exudes femininity, and people hate women. Just little things like that, you’re like, ‘Oh my God, this is just so f–ked.'”<\/p>\n

“It took a lot of unlearning, and there’s still things I”m still confused about, and [it’s] why I feel so uncomfortable being gay sometimes,” she continued. “I don’t get why this is such an issue for me. “I’ve been keeping it kind of private,” she said in the August 2023 episode, “because it is a bigger story and a bigger conversation because I’m dating a girl.”<\/p>\n

“I think it was always a whisper in me that just got louder and louder,” she continued. “I didn’t really know to pay attention to it. “I’ve hinted about my sexuality for years while being afraid to spell it out for everybody,” she told Gay Times <\/em>in May 2021. “I did a lyric video last year, for ‘We Belong.’ It had moving line drawings of people falling in love\u2026It was all a man and a woman making out and it was a weird moment for me.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

“When the song came out, everybody got the idea that the song was a big LGBTQ+ anthem song and I found myself in this position where everyone thought I was queerbaiting,” she continued. “I went on Instagram Live and said ‘Guys, I really needed to explain something to you. Not only has my life been a journey for myself, I was also living for those on the other side of the cameras.”<\/p>\n

“Today is a day I’m so happy to share more of my life with you all – I am proud to let you know that I identify as non-binary and will officially be changing my pronouns to they\/them moving forward,” Demi\u2014who has since gone back to using she\/her pronouns\u2014continued. “This has come after a lot of healing and self-reflective work. I’m still learning and coming into myself, and I don’t claim to be an expert or a spokesperson. “I realized this is so much bigger than me and my relationship and my personal experience because if it helped anyone feel comfortable or brave to be comfortable with who they fall in love with, then that’s way bigger than me and my fears and what I was scared of,” she told E! News<\/a> in June 2022. “It’s very humbling to read comments like that and realize the significance of something as simple as falling in love and sharing that.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Three years after coming out to his family at age 15, Troye publicly shared his story in a YouTube video. And as he later recalled, his decision to come out occurred amid a pivotal moment in his life.<\/p>\n

“I was about to sign my record deal, and I really wanted to be in charge of how I came out,” he told People <\/em>in February 2022. “I didn’t want anyone to take that away from me.
