Switch users are about to lose a convenient way to keep up to date on their favorite TV shows. Still, the Switch 2 never had the Hulu app and lacks any similar option. YouTube may come to the handheld soon, but some gamers see the lack of streaming support as a missed opportunity. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/header><\/div>\n

Switch gamers recently learned that Hulu app support would end on February 5, 2026. Even so, the console still has a few alternatives available to supplement its gaming prowess. Meanwhile, critics note that the Switch 2 is even more lacking as a streaming device<\/a>. However, there is hope that YouTube<\/a> may finally arrive on the system soon.\n<\/p>\n

The Switch still has some streaming abilities<\/h2>\n

Wario64<\/a> on social media let readers know about the update posted on the Nintendo support site<\/a>. The demise of Hulu on the original Switch is not surprising, considering the service is merging with Disney+<\/a>. Sadly, there is no way to watch Disney content either.\n<\/p>\n

Despite losing a popular source of TV shows and movies, Nintendo\u2019s older handheld offers a small selection of streaming apps. CrunchyRoll<\/a> has obvious appeal for many fans, hosting a treasure trove of anime. Perhaps more essential, players can consult YouTube for gameplay tips or news on the latest games.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The situation is much more bleak on the Switch 2. One of its advantages is backward compatibility<\/a>, but it applies only to games. There are no signs that a compatible CrunchyRoll might surface on the system. Fortunately, Google seems intent on bringing its video-sharing platform to the console. Not long after the Switch 2 release date, the company promised to introduce an updated version of the app.\n<\/p>\n

When might YouTube finally land on the Switch 2?<\/h2>\n

It\u2019s been a painful wait for gamers who want the handheld to become more versatile. In October, YouTube finally provided another update<\/a>, revealing, \u201cYouTube is not yet available on the Nintendo Switch<\/a> 2, but we hope to be offering it soon.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

More recently, ParticularQuality on Reddit<\/a> spoke with YouTube support, who said the app’s development was finished and that it\u2019s \u201ccurrently going through Nintendo’s verification processes.\u201d\n<\/p>\n

There is an ongoing debate over whether the Switch 2 should strive to become a capable streaming device. Nintendo has always focused on gaming on its consoles, while the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are more well-rounded. Other gamers blame streaming providers, who may not see the value in keeping more apps up to date. Either way, these individuals have to rely on smartphones<\/a> and tablets for mobile entertainment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
