Like similar devices, it uses gradual, customizable light that mimics a sunrise to gently wake you up and you can pair it with equally gentle wake-up sounds if you\u2019re a heavy sleeper and need that extra noise to get out of bed. It also works as a bedside light and <span section=\"shortcodeLink\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnet.com\/health\/sleep\/best-white-noise-machines\/\" rel><span>white noise machine<\/span><\/a><\/span>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As a light sleeper who uses blackout curtains, I love that this alarm clock simulates a sunrise to signal to my body when it\u2019s time to wake up &#8212; especially during a time change. Oura Ring<\/h2>\n<p>It can be difficult to know exactly how well you\u2019ve slept from one night to the next just based on how you feel. That\u2019s why I use my <span section=\"shortcodeLink\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnet.com\/tech\/mobile\/oura-ring-4-review-my-favorite-wellness-tracker-comes-with-a-pricey-caveat\/\" rel><span>Oura Ring<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u2019s data to see exactly what my sleep looks like: its different stages, my breathing while asleep and my sleep score, which summarizes the overall quality of my rest. This information helps me decide whether to take it easy during the day or go all out during my workout.<\/p>\n<p>There are other <span section=\"shortcodeLink\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnet.com\/health\/sleep\/best-sleep-tracker\/\" rel><span>types of sleep trackers<\/span><\/a><\/span>, like smartwatches and <span section=\"shortcodeLink\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnet.com\/health\/sleep\/eight-sleep-pod-5-has-arrived-what-to-know\/\" rel><span>mattress covers<\/span><\/a><\/span>, but I prefer my <span section=\"shortcodeLink\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnet.com\/health\/fitness\/best-smart-ring\/\" rel><span>smart ring<\/span><\/a><\/span> because it\u2019s more comfortable to wear while sleeping. Brick<\/h2>\n<p>Something else I grapple with when tired: <span section=\"shortcodeLink\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnet.com\/health\/best-apps-to-help-manage-screen-time\/\" rel><span>doomscrolling<\/span><\/a><\/span>. When I\u2019m exhausted, it can be challenging for me to pull myself away from my phone in favor of my preferred free-time activities, such as reading a book, going for a walk, <span section=\"shortcodeLink\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnet.com\/health\/bird-id-app-helped-me-practice-mindfulness-more-meditation-app\/\" rel><span>birdwatching<\/span><\/a><\/span>, working out, cooking or baking or simply spending time outside in nature.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To cut down on my phone time, I\u2019ve been testing the <span section=\"shortcodeLink\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnet.com\/tech\/mobile\/this-50-magnet-curbed-my-iphone-addiction\/\" rel><span>Brick<\/span><\/a><\/span>, a magnet you use to temporarily block selected apps and websites on your device. Unlike screen-time apps you can easily disable on your phone, the Brick is a physical device you have to tap your phone against to block and unblock your apps.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>For the Brick to work, you put it somewhere out of reach (mine is on my fridge) so that you actually have to move your body to use it. This creates more intention around how and when you spend time on your devices.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"4c7e4458-f15f-432d-93a5-3b6aa84750e9\" data-ng-block=\"{\">5. Air fryer\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>Clearly, I\u2019m not at my best when I\u2019m tired, and unfortunately, this applies to what I eat at the end of a long, post-DST day. The last thing I want to do when I have zero energy is cook, so for easier, faster, healthy recipes, I use my <span section=\"shortcodeLink\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnet.com\/home\/kitchen-and-household\/best-air-fryer\/\" rel><span>air fryer<\/span><\/a><\/span>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Last year, I spoke with registered dieticians to learn more about the <span section=\"shortcodeLink\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnet.com\/health\/nutrition\/healthiest-air-fryer-foods-according-registered-dietitians\/\" rel><span>healthiest recipes you can make in an air fryer<\/span><\/a><\/span> with less oil. As a vegetarian, my favorites include air-fried vegetables and <span section=\"shortcodeLink\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnet.com\/home\/kitchen-and-household\/meet-your-fiber-goals-with-this-simple-air-fryer-snack\/\" rel><span>sweet potato fries<\/span><\/a><\/span>, which I love as sides.
