{"id":892233,"date":"2026-03-18T02:08:29","date_gmt":"2026-03-18T07:08:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2026\/03\/18\/derry-contractor-lands-32-6m-belfast-social-housing-contract\/"},"modified":"2026-03-18T02:08:29","modified_gmt":"2026-03-18T07:08:29","slug":"derry-contractor-lands-32-6m-belfast-social-housing-contract","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2026\/03\/18\/derry-contractor-lands-32-6m-belfast-social-housing-contract\/","title":{"rendered":"Derry contractor lands \u00a332.6m Belfast social housing contract"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"wrapper_sleeve\">\n<p><img width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ca.emap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2017\/02\/Generic_housing_Housebuilding-housing-homes.jpg\" alt=\"Generic housing Housebuilding housing homes\"  decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\" ><\/p>\n<div>\n<p data-start=\"60\" data-end=\"172\">E H Allingham Construction has won a \u00a332.6m contract to deliver 140 social homes in west Belfast.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"174\" data-end=\"328\">Radius Homes appointed the Derry-based contractor to build the first section of the Hannahstown phase two development on a greenfield site on Glen Road.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"330\" data-end=\"429\">The contract, awarded last Friday, is due to be signed at the end of the month following a standstill period and run until 31 March 2029.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"431\" data-end=\"590\">The scheme will deliver a mix of 73 houses, including split-level units and two wheelchair-accessible bungalows, alongside 65 apartments across seven blocks.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"592\" data-end=\"705\">One apartment block will be designed using Happi principles and include additional communal spaces for residents.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"707\" data-end=\"936\">The development will also include landscaping, a children\u2019s play park, amenity areas and associated infrastructure works. A programme of enabling works across the wider site will be carried out alongside the housing construction.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"938\" data-end=\"1067\">Radius Housing Association and Choice Housing Ireland are partnering with Radius Homes on the project as contracting authorities.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1069\" data-end=\"1165\">The contract was procured using a competitive flexible procedure under the Procurement Act 2023.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1167\" data-end=\"1360\">Four bids were submitted for the contract, with three assessed at the final stage. The unsuccessful bidders were Magherafelt-based M.J. McBride Construction and Maghera contractor P&#038;K McKaigue.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1362\" data-end=\"1581\">Radius Homes also retained the option to award a second phase of around 120 additional homes to the same contractor.
