We\u2019ve crunched the numbers, and in the history of one man looking at another man and thinking, Damn, I wish I could dress like that<\/em>, 71.8 percent of the time, the object of envy has been a musician. Musicians are simply more stylish than the rest of us. The scientific explanation is that their unique ability to conjure emotions and generate indelible memories by literally vibrating the air around them translates remarkably well into fashion, where a similar magic trick is being performed but for the eye rather than the ear. There\u2019s something else, though: Music, more than most sources of the kind of fame and fortune that thrust a man into the public eye, is intensely personal. It begins alone in a bedroom with a drum machine or a laptop or a guitar or a scratch pad of cast-off couplets waiting to be assembled into a lyric. And the currency of fashion, as the 50 men on this list attest, is authentic self-expression.<\/p>\n Every era has a handful of musicians who immediately come to mind as defining the style of their age. Today, against the backdrop of a music scene that\u2019s never been more diverse, multifaceted, unpredictable, funky, theatrical, or frankly just exciting<\/em>, we\u2019ve got far more than a handful, many of whom will be at the Grammys on Sunday. So we took the occasion to create the definitive list of the most stylish men in music. Note that this is a list of the most stylish men in music now, <\/em>men whose every look wields influence in the fashion landscape today<\/em>. No Mick Jagger. No David Byrne. No Eddie Vedder. This was an incredibly difficult task. We planned for 15 to 20 names, fought over 60 or 70, and reined ourselves in until we landed on 50. Still, we\u2019ve certainly left many deserving men off this list. (Be sure to tell us who in the comments.) Nevertheless, scroll on, and we can promise you\u2019ll find plenty to covet and plenty that inspires. \u201cDamn,\u201d you\u2019ll say, at least a few times. \u201cI wish I could dress like that.\u201d<\/p>\n When you first think of John Mayer, \u201cboy next door\u201d might come to mind, and that\u2019s exactly what makes his style so compelling. A technical wizard who\u2019s comfortable being just another guy in the band, whether it\u2019s pop, blues, R&B, or however you\u2019d classify Dead & Company, Mayer carries the same refined confidence into his personal style. His daily attire is refreshingly simple, letting the real gem of his wardrobe shine: his watches. Neither his guitar nor his clothes steal the spotlight; Mayer lets the timepieces he wears take center stage. He\u2019s curated an impressive collection from heavy hitters like Rolex, IWC, and Patek Philippe. He has also collaborated with Audemars Piguet, designing a limited-edition Royal Oak. He doesn\u2019t chase trends. He\u2019s intentional. And by focusing his expression on his wrist, he creates a sense of quiet luxury. \u2014Andrea R\u00edos<\/em> How to define Father John Misty\u2019s look? Imagine that your youth pastor drops acid now. He stopped shaving his face and cropping his hair. He hasn\u2019t given up on slip-on loafers or thick-heeled boots, even though they are remnants of the 2010s stomp-clap folk scene we\u2019re all trying to forget. Can I get a hallelujah? \u2014Chris Hatler<\/em><\/p>\n Do you know how good you have to be to perform in boxy white graphic tees and acid-washed jeans and still make a list of the most stylish men in music? Kevin Parker, mastermind of the psychedelic rock project Tame Impala, is proof that style isn\u2019t about mastering trends but rather about being maximally, authentically yourself. (We\u2019re so happy to know the real Kevin that we\u2019ve even forgiven his prolonged \u201cindie twee\u201d scarf obsession of the 2010s.) Though he\u2019s adopted wider silhouettes like the rest of us, Parker still adheres to his own universe of white T-shirts bearing abstract designs and the occasional knit cardigan or corduroy jacket. Those of us trying too hard to look like we\u2019re not trying at all, take note. \u2014Eric Francisco<\/em><\/p>\n The thing about Donald Glover is, it\u2019s very hard to guess what Donald Glover is going to do next. Is he going to star in a TV show? Release an album? Retire and then\u2014maybe, possibly\u2014unretire? (Though he claims his Childish Gambino persona is done, he dropped a new song and performed at Tyler, the Creator\u2019s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in 2025.) The same is true for his style. One day he\u2019s slipping into a belted jacquard jacket with a whiff of Lando Calrissian to it. The next day he\u2019s rocking a mesh tank top with wide-leg trousers and a leather jacket that looks like it just beamed in from the \u201990s. On someone else, the vibes might feel worlds apart. But on Glover, they\u2019re a reflection of his creative nature: unpredictable in all the right ways. \u2014J.E.<\/em><\/em> <\/p>\n The two official members of the nihilistic industrial-rock band Nine Inch Nails are also two of the most venerated composers in the movie industry. In both arenas, they are very, very stylish. Reznor cultivated a sweaty, occasionally mud-caked look amid the grunge days of yore (aka the \u201990s), but he\u2019s been able to evolve an elegant wardrobe without sacrificing the signature darkness of his onstage image. These days, both Ross and Reznor opt for tailored suits paired with black trench coats, leather jackets, and chain necklaces. Rarely are they the flashiest men on the Oscars red carpet, a place it was once unthinkable that they\u2019d end up, but they never look out of place. \u2014Mark Burger<\/em><\/p>\n If we know one thing for sure, it\u2019s that Finneas O\u2019Connell cleans up nice. There\u2019s something about the combination of longer hair, a bit of a beard, and a sharp suit that just works (see also: Ludwig G\u00f6ransson). So it\u2019s perhaps no surprise that the singer, songwriter, producer, and brother to Billie Eilish has become so well-known for his red-carpet looks. Clean lines, often complemented by tonal color palettes, are an easy win for him\u2014especially considering he puts in the effort to make sure that the tailoring is done properly (no overlong trousers or hand-swallowing sleeves to be seen). But he also turns it out on the casual front. In jeans and shades paired with threadbare tees or Western shirts snapped up over tank tops, he looks every bit the rock star that he is. \u2014J.E.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n Vince Staples doesn\u2019t boast about sporting luxury brands as much as his contemporaries. In fact, he once rapped, \u201cI\u2019m focused, they stuck on that dull shit \/ Living for that True Religion is broke shit.\u201d That doesn\u2019t mean the 32-year-old musician doesn\u2019t have style. On the contrary: Luxury brands can be a crutch. Watch any episode of Staples\u2019s self-titled Netflix series, The Vince Staples Show<\/em>, and you\u2019ll find the Long Beach rapper rocking Marni x Carhartt WIP collab jackets, Champion hoodies, Levi\u2019s (that actually fit), and Converse Chuck Taylors. He makes it all look correct\u2014and he provides some real hope to the average fan trying to look as fresh as their favorite rapper. \u2014Josh Rosenberg<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n It\u2019s impossible to ignore the cheekbones. S. Holden Jaffe\u2014otherwise known as Del Water Gap\u2014was born with genetics on his side. But instead of parlaying that into an anodyne personal style that relies more on handsomeness than expressiveness, he went hard the other way. He embraces everything from workwear to sportswear to tailoring and brings his personality to bear on each. Sometimes that means adding an outr\u00e9 element, like the thigh-high leather boots he wore to the Saint Laurent show in Paris last summer. Other times it translates to emphatic accessorizing; he\u2019s been known to pile on so many necklaces it\u2019s tough to count them all. But ultimately it\u2019s about how he wears the clothes. Whether he\u2019s sweating through his suit onstage or hanging out in double denim, he looks perfectly at ease in what he\u2019s wearing. Enter Luis Del Valle from Buscabulla. One moment you\u2019ll find him in a full-blown tux onstage, worn with a combination of insouciance and irony. The next he\u2019s in a slinky suit the color of deli mustard. After that, maybe he\u2019ll switch things up and put on a T-shirt and jeans, or a button-front shirt undone to dangerously low on the navel. He\u2019s chameleonic in how often he changes up the looks themselves, but there\u2019s a sense of cohesion when it comes to the overall vibe. Throw in a shaggy haircut, a swashbuckling mustache, and a pair of tinted sunglasses and you\u2019ve got a recipe for success. \u2014J.E.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n The international DJ and Apple Music creative director provides a rare example of an adult male in eye-catching streetwear managing to appear resolutely, defiantly grown. Lowe\u2019s looks have a sense of play and of proportion. They\u2019re flowy without swallowing him; they provide a pop of color without looking like pajamas. His fits are au courant and well chosen, but what pulls our eye is how he does the near impossible: He dresses like a man of a certain age who\u2019s having fun. \u2014Dave Holmes<\/em><\/p>\n The project of real-life brothers Pusha T and Malice, Clipse is the blueprint for a modern rap duo, without any of the gimmicks that could come with a musical double bill. From early-aughts Dickies fits and graphic tees to present-day Louis Vuitton looks, the two halves of Clipse acknowledge their shared dynamic without drawing outsize attention to it. Back in the spotlight promoting the Grammy-nominated album Let God Sort \u2019Em Out<\/em>, Clipse has been able to adjust the dial on public appearances from loud (checkered denim sets at the ESPY Awards last summer) to soft (relaxed sweatsuits and hoodies at the Grammy Museum) with ease. As any fan of their music could tell you: They\u2019re great separately but even better together. \u2014M.B.<\/em><\/p>\n Their music sounds nothing alike, but there\u2019s an argument that James Blake is carrying on at least one tradition established by Liam Gallagher of Oasis. That tradition being: If an English musician is around, there should be a better-than-average chance of spotting some Stone Island. The 37-year-old singer, songwriter, and producer has worn the brand onstage as he sings soulful, haunting melodies accompanied by the piano. He\u2019s also sported the famous badge at events, like a recent London dinner with his partner, Jameela Jamil. But Stoney isn\u2019t the only brand on Blake\u2019s radar. He\u2019s got a penchant for Prada, Bottega Veneta, and Zegna too. With some guys, that list of labels could steer them straight into fashion-victim territory. But Blake\u2019s real talent is finding a way to keep everything low-key but interesting. Think nearly matched sets that capitalize on subtle variations in color and texture, pieces that play with proportion, and an expertly utilized accessory or two. It\u2019s not about catching your eye on the first glance; instead, Blake\u2019s skill is ensuring a second look. \u2014J.E.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n Oscar-winning film composer Ludwig G\u00f6ransson is an icon for his work alone, with blockbusters like Creed<\/em>, Black Panther<\/em>, Oppenheimer<\/em>, and Sinners<\/em> all bearing his sonic signature. But the prodigious number of red carpets that r\u00e9sum\u00e9 has allowed him to walk show off another side of his genius: In velvet suits and patterned shirts, he can upstage even the most glamorous stars. The Swedish-born G\u00f6ransson, who befriended frequent collaborator Ryan Coogler while they were students at USC, is the rare off-screen talent who clocks in wearing drool-worthy drips. His style oscillates between nightclub formalwear\u2014which G\u00f6ransson executes without breaking a sweat\u2014and laid-back bohemia that mixes hippie denim, textured sweaters, and paisley button-downs. It all pairs exceptionally well with his glorious Jesus Christ\u2013like mane. Maybe it\u2019s a clue as to why he\u2019s so damn good at conjuring the perfect soundscape to accompany whatever world a director wants to show us, be it a boxing ring, a testing range, or a juke joint: The man\u2019s eye is clearly just as sharp as his ear. \u2014E.F.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n Approximately 27 weeks ago, according to his Instagram feed, Steve Lacy acquired a pair of Kormos Fisherman Loafers by London-based designer Kiko Kostadinov. \u201cI\u2019m so happy about these shoes I just got today had to show y\u2019all,\u201d he wrote. Since then, the same shoes have shown up no fewer than five times on his grid. Granted, he was promoting a single named \u201cNice Shoes\u201d around that time, but that many appearances is undeniable\u2014the guy cares about his fashion choices, and he\u2019s going out of his way to find the good stuff. You can see it when he wears a skintight, sparkly turtleneck paired with wide-leg trousers. Or a white shirt with a huge, built-in bow. Even with far more casual looks\u2014jeans and a sweatshirt, track pants and a leather bomber\u2014there is an offbeat element like ornate embroidery or side-zip boots with squared-off toes. His style is rooted in insider-y details, silhouettes, and brands. It might look a little strange from an outsider\u2019s perspective, but if you\u2019re deep in that world, it\u2019s clear that Lacy knows his shit. \u2014J.E.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n Last year\u2019s Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere<\/em> showed us how much the Jersey legend has always been pondering the role of the rock star in contemporary society. As unfussed as his aesthetic has always seemed, he\u2019s clearly done just as much thinking about how his fits fit into the vision. Sometimes he went with the flow, as with the flowy bohemian style of 1973\u2019s Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ<\/em> and the high-desert chic of 1987\u2019s Tunnel of Love<\/em>. But he was at his most stylish when he went against the grain, never more memorably than in his Born in the U.S.A.<\/em> era, when he countered 1984\u2019s Reagan-age power-suit maximalism with the most elegant plain white tee and lived-in Levi\u2019s since James Dean. \u2014D.H.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n Whether it\u2019s a dig at Drake, an ode to the L.A. Dodgers, or a literal symbol of his own accomplishments, Kendrick Lamar always uses his fits to make a statement. He kicked off 2025 with two big ones. First it was the denim-on-denim look at the Grammys. A week later, he performed the Super Bowl halftime show in a Martine Rose varsity jacket with the word \u201cGloria\u201d splayed across the front, over a black tee and bootcut jeans. With that, 2025 instantly became the year of flared jeans and baggy T-shirts\u2014and it was still just February. Kendrick spent the rest of the year touring behind his latest album, GNX<\/em>, a love letter to the West Coast hip-hop he grew up on. Looks on the Grand National Tour embodied that music\u2019s era with various shades of camouflage, denim, studded belts, and chains. We\u2019re all waiting to see what he shows up in at this year\u2019s Grammys, where he can cap a year of iconic fashion while collecting a couple statuettes for the twice-nominated GNX<\/em>. With Kendrick, it\u2019s impossible to know what he\u2019s going to do next; we just know it will be loud and undeniably influential. What else would you expect from hip-hop\u2019s first Pulitzer Prize winner? \u2014Bryn Gelbart<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n You might assume that it doesn\u2019t take much to pull off the cowboy aesthetic, but there\u2019s a lot that goes into making a well-sized Stetson and head-to-toe denim read as more than your average Yellowstone <\/em>cosplay. Take Charley Crockett, for example. The Texas-bred country musician\u2014who claims lineage back to Western frontiersman Davy Crockett\u2014does vintage Americana better than anyone else. His (rather open) secret? A colorful, floral button-down and a tasteful \u201cmule kick\u201d crease right on the top of the hat. \u2014J.R.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n Having a style that looks like it comes from your own closet is the real goal when you’re famous. Kaytranada never looks sloppy, never looks over-styled, yet he has a uniform that feels true to who he is. While he usually performs in tanks and pants, he\u2019ll add a pop of color with a sneaker, a beat-up hat, or jewelry. That takes it the extra mile. The look is complete without ever feeling overdone. And that makes his styled red-carpet looks hit that much harder, like when he wore McQueen to the Met Gala. It was inspired<\/em> by style icon Miles Davis, but you never doubted it was all Kaytranada. \u2014Krista Jones<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n Mark Ronson\u2019s wardrobe has evolved over the years, as it does for most of us. The difference is, we\u2019re not in the spotlight. But at least it makes it easy to track. Since his early days as a fast-rising London DJ (he entertained the crowd at Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes\u2019s wedding reception back in 2006), Ronson has been under continuous scrutiny. Along the path that led from DJing to his current status as an A-list music producer with a roster of the biggest names in contemporary music\u2014like Dua Lipa, Robbie Williams, and Bruno Mars\u2014Ronson has had to constantly raise his game. He\u2019s clearly matured\u2014or perhaps relaxed<\/em> is a better word\u2014into a style that works well for him, one that involves tailoring for upscale events and much more casual gear by day. Emphasis, suitably\u2014he turned 50 in 2025\u2014is less on wow colors or red-carpet trends and far more on consistent color palettes and fitted yet comfortable tailoring, softened with casual pieces like T-shirts, knits, and open shirts. \u2014Nick Sullivan<\/em><\/p>\n If you haven\u2019t heard the jazz saxophonist, stop reading, go to Spotify or Apple Music or your nearest record store, and listen to his three-disc<\/em> opus The Epic<\/em>. I\u2019m not saying it will transform you into a jazz head, but the album will show you that Washington is among our most original musicians. His music is eclectic, with overtones of \u201970s jazz-spirituality energy and Afrofuturism\u2014which also describes the way he dresses. It\u2019s regal, cosmic, and somehow monastic at the same time. He wears matching sets with ornate patterns, flowing robes, long coats, and heavy jewelry. His hair looks like an architect designed it. \u201cI guess alchemy is my thing,\u201d he\u2019s said of his fashion choices. Jazz musicians have a legacy of being the best-dressed guys in the room; Washington is carrying on that tradition in fresh, occasionally weird, and always bold ways. \u2014Michael Sebastian<\/em><\/p>\n How does Taeyong even have time to get dressed? He\u2019s the leader of the K-pop boy band NCT \u2026 and a member of NCT\u2019s subunit NCT 127 \u2026 and a member of the supergroup SuperM \u2026 and a solo artist in his own right. And yet, not only does he manage to pull on the occasional outfit, but he\u2019s also established himself as one of the most distinctive tastemakers in K-pop. It\u2019s the undeniable ease of his personal style that makes it all possible. He blends sharp tailoring with deconstructed elements\u2014adding makeup and nail art that challenge norms\u2014with the same felicity he exhibits moving between musical projects. Which isn\u2019t to say his style has got no teeth. There\u2019s a fearlessness to the way Taeyong skirts boundaries without artifice, opting for hoodies, heavy jackets, and high-concept sneakers that feel personal to him and would seem stilted on anyone else. In an industry optimized for either the banal or bizarre, Taeyong charts his own course. \u2014M.B.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n \u201cIn my world, you can be a gangsta with a dress or you can be a gangsta with baggy pants,\u201d Young Thug said in a 2016 Calvin Klein campaign\u2014just one month before he wore a frilly periwinkle dress designed by Alessandro Trincone on the cover of his mixtape Jeffrey<\/em>. \u201cI feel like there\u2019s no such thing as gender,\u201d he added. Nowadays, you can no doubt trace the audacity of musicians like A$AP Rocky, who steps out in leather Givenchy skirts, or athletes like Caleb Williams, who openly paints his nails, back to Thugger\u2019s brave mixtape cover. Still, that\u2019s not to say that Young Thug\u2019s style hasn\u2019t evolved. The 34-year-old rapper recently wore cream-colored breakaway maxi jeans and a bulging black jacket to his \u201cBlaming Jesus\u201d video shoot\u2014blending streetwear trends with runway looks, on the way to inventing himself once again. \u2014J.R.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n To get out in front of the most pertinent question: He does own a shirt. He may not wear one often\u2014and if you had a rack like his, you wouldn\u2019t either\u2014but they are there. A recent collaboration with Billabong produced rock T-shirts that reflect what he calls his \u201cslightly expensive beach bum\u201d aesthetic. But Pop\u2019s real contributions to the style canon are found below the belt. He was particular about his denim in the \u201970s, choosing to perform only in jeans that were the exact right kind of skintight. And that, my friends, is what made the world safe for distressed denim. That he usually sports a vintage, bohemian style built on thrifted finds and romantic layers\u2014then spikes his fits with glam-rock electricity. (Think sparkly \u201980s flair, \u00e0 la Prince.) That as an advocate for self-expression and LGBTQ+ rights, Conan\u2019s embrace of androgynous dressing with fluid tailoring and fearless beauty choices has made him a genuine fashion icon for the queer community. But again: On his last tour, his outfits evolved throughout the night from a corset and balloon-sleeve sailor costume, to pajamas, to a captain\u2019s uniform. That\u2019s it. No one else is using fashion in quite the same way as Conan Gray. \u2014Bellamy Richardson<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n What makes Post Malone stand out is his refusal to dress for approval. He leans into what feels good and often repeats silhouettes, sometimes entire outfits, and every time, his confidence carries him through it. His style feels effortless because it\u2019s rooted in comfort and self-expression, but even at his most low-key, there\u2019s always a point of view: graphic shirts layered with diamond chains, vintage-inspired outerwear paired with athletic shorts, a thrift-store-meets-tour-bus mix that somehow clicks. His tattoos and jewelry aren\u2019t accessories; they are extensions. Recently he\u2019s gone back to his roots\u2014oversize tees, broken-in denim, worn leather, and cowboy boots.
