Actor and comedian John Mulaney said tonight he is postponing shows planned for this weekend in Minneapolis following yesterday’s fatal shooting of a woman by an ICE agent.<\/p>\n

Mulaney had been scheduled to perform at the Armory.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat\u2019s happening in your city is heartbreaking,\u201d Mulaney wrote in a statement posted to social media<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A woman who said she was on the street in Minneapolis facing the front windshield of the car when Good was shot told NBC News that no immigration officers were in front of the car when the shots were fired.<\/p>\n

Betsy, who did not want her last name used to protect her family, said she was on the east side of Portland Avenue when she saw the shooting. <\/p>\n

“I want to be incredibly clear about this. The officers were not in front of her car the moment this all occurred,” said Betsy, who shared videos of the aftermath of the scene. “She was attempting to move her car away from the cluster of cars and the agents south on Portland Avenue, and the agents who fired the shot were standing next to the vehicle, not at all in front of it.” <\/p>\n

Betsy said after the shots, Good’s car headed in her direction, but because everything happened so quickly, it didn’t occur to her to move. The car crashed about 4 feet in front of her, she said. After the car slammed into parked cars, a woman from the other side of the street ran to the driver’s side of the car and threw open the door to check on the driver and told her to call 911, she said.<\/p>\n

Betsy said she called, but did not get through. Federal agents then began moving to the vehicle and were holding out their firearms and yelling at people to get back, she said. <\/p>\n

“At that moment, I got really scared, and I kind of ran to a yard of a house I was standing in front of to get behind a fence,” she said. “I was really afraid.” <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The memorial, which witnesses said was where Good\u2019s car crashed after she was shot, was lined with flower bouquets and lit by dozens of candles. The scene also featured signs reading \u201cPeace,\u201d \u201cRemember\u201d and \u201cICE Is Mafia.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jeffries said Democrats support the removal of violent felons who are in the U.S. illegally, but he said, “That\u2019s not what this administration has been doing under the so-called leadership of Kristi Noem, who\u2019s a stone-cold liar. Schumer said he watched the video of the incident. \u201cYou felt like your stomach was being punched,” he said. “Looking at the video, there seemed no justification for what these agents did. The Department of Homeland Security has been surging officers to the Twin Cities in a crackdown after a right-wing YouTuber alleged fraud by Somalis living there, two DHS officials told NBC News at the time.<\/p>\n

Immigration and Customs Enforcement began ramping up arrests of undocumented immigrants in the Minneapolis area in early December.<\/p>\n

DHS planned to send 1,500 deportation officers from Enforcement and Removal Operations, as well as 600 agents from Homeland Security Investigations, the two DHS officials said.<\/p>\n

Some of the officers and agents began arriving Sunday, one of the officials said.<\/p>\n

The surge follows a viral video that\u00a0alleged Somali-run day care centers<\/a>\u00a0were receiving federal subsidies while conducting little or no business. The Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families investigated the allegations<\/a> and said compliance checks at the facilities found children present at all but one, which closed in 2022.<\/p>\n
