New York (01\/24\/2024) \u2014 A new plant-based non-profit, Black, Brown, and Diverse Plant-Based People for Equity Inc., will hold its first-ever \u201cPlant-Based Cookie Day\u201d at Boys & Girls Clubs of Rochester on January 31, 2024.<\/p>\n

The group will provide about 150 children with plant-based cookies during their evening meal at the location.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, Rochester, the nation, and our world are facing many problems,\u201d said BBDPPE founder Lisa Dumas. \u201cAnd, for many years, according to information released as recently as December 2023,\u00a0the city of Rochester has been ranked #1 in the nation for child poverty, and #5 for adults living in the same situation<\/a>. Our\u00a0goal\u00a0is not only to educate diverse and underserved communities regarding the benefits of plant-based eating, but to provide increased access to those foods in an effort to help members of those communities make the healthier switch.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cCommunity support is crucial to our efforts to continue this sort of programming,\u201d Dumas added. \u201cAnyone who would like to donate and support our cause can visit our website,\u00a0wwwequalvalueforall.wordpress.com<\/a>, and receive an IRS-ready tax receipt online, or donate via cash app to $LisaIrene2022.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dumas also said the organization\u2019s Community Education Program is ongoing, and BBDPPE hopes to make this event annual.<\/p>\n

The plant-based cookies for the event were provided by Soulistic Sweets,\u00a01252 Latta Rd;\u00a0Get Caked Bakery Inc.,\u00a0274 N Goodman St b132;.\u00a0and Lori\u2019s Natural Foods Center,\u00a0900 Jefferson Rd.<\/p>\n

Stickers for the kids that read \u201cI had a plant-based cookie today :)\u201d were provided by Skin FX Wraps Signs and Designs, at 25 Stonewood Ave.<\/p>\n

BBDPPE encourages the community to support these businesses in an effort to acknowledge their kindness and generosity.<\/p>\n
