We spoke with Liqui Moly Beta and Triumph Factory Racing afterward and learned Oldenburg was unconscious after his crash. Fortunately he didn&#8217;t sustain any spinal injuries, although the extent of any other injures isn&#8217;t known quite yet. He&#8217;s definitely out for tonight, leaving Liqui Moly Beta without any riders in San Diego after <a href=\"http:\/\/racerxonline.com\/rider\/benny-bloss\">Benny Bloss<\/a> broke his wrist last week.<\/p>\n<p>Forkner took a trip to the hospital after his crash for evaluation, and everything came out fine. Forkner is now doing everything he can to get out of the hospital in time to get back to the stadium and race. It&#8217;s late in the day though, so he might not make it.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<figure>\n<div>\n<p><a data-href=\"http:\/\/rxi.iscdn.net\/2026\/01\/321277_al28877.jpg\" data-size=\"6000x4000\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Mitchell Oldenburg is out for San Diego.\" src=\"http:\/\/rxi.iscdn.net\/2026\/01\/321277_al28877.jpg\" previous-src=\"http:\/\/rxi.iscdn.net\/2026\/01\/321277_al28877.jpg\"> <\/a><\/p><figcaption> Mitchell Oldenburg is out for San Diego.  <span>Align Media<\/span>  <\/figcaption><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Forkner said the following in a Triumph post-race press release:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I had some pain around my kidney area, so the medical crew wanted me to head to the hospital for checks. I went there and everything checked out okay \u2013 it all looked okay. I was just really stiff, but otherwise fine. I will have some work done this week and I should be fine for Anaheim 2!&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Forkner also posted an update on his Instagram story, which only stays public for 24 hours. He said he has no injuries and is expecting to race Anaheim 2 next weekend after doing some therapy and rehabilitation this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<blockquote>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Austin Forkner posted an update on Instagram. <br \/>He went to the hospital following a hard crash in second qualifying session yesterday. <br \/>He did not have any injuries but was banged up. He had surgery and is recovering but there is no timeline on his return to racing.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Sorry for the late update! Been down and out the last couple days.. most of you have probably saw the video during practice on Saturday, but I ended up with a concussion and a broken radius\/ulna in my left arm\ud83e\udd37\ud83c\udffb\u200d\u2642\ufe0f ended up having surgery and we are officially on the road to recovery! Not sure what the timeline looks like at the moment, but I\u2019m just thankful for everyone in my corner being so positive!<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m sure I\u2019m not the only one in the sport who has a love\/hate relationship with dirtbikes\ud83d\ude02 I think my wife\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/the.alexandriarose\/\">@the.alexandriarose<\/a>\u00a0said it best \u201cit can always be worse, but damn it could always be better\u201d\ud83d\ude02\u2620\ufe0f<\/p>\n<p>Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has reached out!
