TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS:<\/strong>\u00a0Signing<\/em><\/p>\n LAFC<\/a> have acquired midfielder\u00a0Stephen Eust\u00e1quio<\/a> on loan from Portuguese powerhouse FC Porto, the club announced Friday.\u00a0<\/p>\n The 29-year-old Canadian international’s loan lasts through June 2026 and includes a purchase option. He will occupy an international slot.<\/p>\n LAFC acquired Eust\u00e1quio\u2019s Discovery Priority from the San Jose Earthquakes<\/a> in exchange for $50,000 in 2026 General Allocation Money (GAM).<\/p>\n \u201cStephen is a top-class midfielder with extensive international experience who knows what it takes to win and lead at the highest level,\u201d said LAFC co-president & general manager John Thorrington.<\/p>\n “We\u2019re excited to add a player of his quality, and we\u2019re confident he will have an immediate, positive impact on the group both on and off the field.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n Eust\u00e1quio tallied 12g\/11a in 156 matches (all competitions) after joining Porto in January 2022. He previously played at fellow Portuguese sides Torreense, Leix\u00f5es, Chaves and Pa\u00e7os Ferreira, as well as LIGA MX powerhouse Cruz Azul.\u00a0<\/p>\n Internationally, Eust\u00e1quio has four goals in 54 caps for Canada<\/a>, often serving as captain. After featuring at the 2022 FIFA World Cup<\/a> and 2024 Copa Am\u00e9rica, he’s looking to make head coach Jesse Marsch’s squad for the 2026 World Cup on home soil.<\/p>\n At LAFC, Eust\u00e1quio will play alongside CanMNT regulars Mathieu Choini\u00e8re<\/a> and Jacob Shaffelburg<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n LAFC’s 2026 season, their first under head coach Marc Dos Santos<\/a>, begins on Feb. 21 at the historic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum against Lionel Messi<\/a> and reigning MLS Cup presented by Audi champions\u00a0Inter Miami CF<\/a>\u00a0(9:30 pm ET |\u00a0Apple TV<\/a>).\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
