{"id":888920,"date":"2026-01-30T23:12:13","date_gmt":"2026-01-31T05:12:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2026\/01\/30\/further-arrests-in-oxfordshire-mega-dump-investigation\/"},"modified":"2026-01-30T23:12:13","modified_gmt":"2026-01-31T05:12:13","slug":"further-arrests-in-oxfordshire-mega-dump-investigation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2026\/01\/30\/further-arrests-in-oxfordshire-mega-dump-investigation\/","title":{"rendered":"Further arrests in Oxfordshire mega-dump investigation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"wrapper_sleeve\">\n<p><img width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ca.emap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2026\/01\/Env-Agency-arrests_A7S03924-Edit_1024x683_144dpi.webp\"  decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\"  alt=\"Env-Agency-arrests_A7S03924-Edit_1024x683_144dpi.webp\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Police have made two more arrests as part of an ongoing investigation into a huge waste dumping operation in Kidlington, Oxfordshire, the Environment Agency (EA) has announced.<\/p>\n<p>Officers from the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit, working with the EA, Thames Valley Police, Hampshire &#038; Isle of Wight Constabulary and Surrey Police, arrested two men at separate locations, the watchdog said.<\/p>\n<p>A 69- year-old man was arrested on Thursday at a property in Andover while a 54-year-old man was apprehended in Slough, according to an EA statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBoth were arrested for environmental and money laundering offences,\u201d the EA said, adding that both suspects have been released on conditional bail pending further investigation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe arrests build on an\u00a0arrest made in November\u00a0and is another welcome step in delivering justice for the local community,\u201d the EA said.<\/p>\n<p>At the time, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/sustainability\/man-arrested-over-horrendous-fly-tipping-26-11-2025\/\"><em>Construction News <\/em>reported<\/a> that the arrest had been made in connection with illegal fly-tipping of construction and other waste next to the A34 near Kidlington.<\/p>\n<p>Emma Viner, enforcement and investigations manager in the Environment Agency\u2019s national environmental crime unit, described the \u201cillegal dump\u201d at Kidlington as \u201can atrocious and deliberate attack on our environment\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>She said the latest arrests were \u201canother vital step in collecting new evidence and progressing our investigation\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>EA officials first visited the site on 2 July last year following reports of illegal tipping and issued a cease-and-desist letter.<\/p>\n<p>After officers became aware of continued criminal activity on site in October 2025, a court order was sought and granted to close the site, the agency added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince this was granted on 23 October 2025, no further tipping has taken place\u201d the EA said.<\/p>\n<p>It announced in December that work to clear up the illegal site had begun.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/legal\/further-arrests-in-oxfordshire-fly-tipping-investigation-30-01-2026\/\" class=\"button purchase\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Read More<\/a><br \/>\n Ben Vogel<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Police have made two more arrests as part of an ongoing investigation into a huge waste dumping operation in Kidlington, Oxfordshire, the Environment Agency (EA) has announced.
