Marseille\u2019s hopes of remaining in the Ligue 1 title race this winter received a major boost on Saturday at the Orange Velodrome. <\/p>\n

Timothy Weah<\/strong> registered one assist and played 90 minutes as Marseille eased itself past Lens 3-1 in league play. The U.S. men\u2019s national team wingback delivered his latest productive shift of the new year as Marseille stayed in the top-three of the league table. <\/p>\n

Amine Gouiri and Ethan Nwaneri both scored in the opening 13 minutes of the match, giving Roberto De Zerbi\u2019s men a 2-0 advantage. Weah set up Gouiri for his second goal of the night, walking away with his third assist of the season.<\/p>\n

Despite a consolation goal from Lens, Marseille would hang on for three points at home.<\/p>\n

Weah, who now has six goal contributions on the season, will now look forward to UEFA Champions League play midweek. Marseille travels to Club Brugge on Wednesday in both clubs\u2019 Matchday 8 finale. <\/p>\n

In Italy, Weston McKennie <\/strong>helped Juventus pick up a top-five win over Napoli.<\/p>\n

In Spain, Johnny Cardoso<\/strong> helped Atletico Madrid earn three points at home against Mallorca. <\/p>\n
