Photo by Segun Ogunfeyitimi Copyright: xshengolpixsx<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Former African Women&#8217;s Player of the Year <a href=\"https:\/\/soccernet.ng\/tag\/asisat-oshoala\">Asisat Oshoala<\/a> has taken a swipe at CAF following the questionable officiating in <a href=\"https:\/\/soccernet.ng\/2026\/01\/nigeria-afcon-moro-semifinal-super-eagles.html\">Nigeria&#8217;s loss to Morocco in the semifinal of the 2025 AFCON,<\/a> Soccernet.ng reports.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u200bThe Super Eagles locked horns with the <a href=\"https:\/\/soccernet.ng\/category\/afcon\">2025 Africa Cup of Nations<\/a> hosts, Morocco, on Wednesday at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah in Rabat.<\/p>\n<p>It was a game from which much was expected, given the quality both teams had shown in their previous matches at the tournament.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_194021\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-194021\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/soccernet.ng\/app\/uploads\/2026\/01\/imago1071256785-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Soccer Super Eagles during the AFCON match between Nigeria and Morocco\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1703\"  ><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-194021\">Super Eagles during the AFCON match between Nigeria and Morocco Copyright: IMAGOxshengolpixsx<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u200bHowever, the encounter did not produce many fireworks. Although the possession was fairly even, the Atlas Lions were the slightly better side, registering 16 goal attempts compared to Nigeria&#8217;s two.<\/p>\n<p>Eventually, after 120 minutes of action, Morocco won the tie via a penalty shootout to advance to the final.<\/p>\n<p>\u200bDuring the game, <a href=\"https:\/\/soccernet.ng\/2026\/01\/osayi-samuel-super-eagles-morocco.html\">referee Daniel Laryea made his presence felt, but not for the right reasons<\/a>. While the Ghanaian referee was not the sole reason the Super Eagles lost, he appeared to favor the Moroccans with several questionable calls, which clearly frustrated the Nigerian players.<\/p>\n<p>\u200bThis was not the first time referees in charge of Morocco&#8217;s games at AFCON 2025 have been put in the spotlight.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_193746\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-193746\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/soccernet.ng\/app\/uploads\/2026\/01\/20260113_112249.jpg\" alt=\"Soccer Morocco players Hakimi, Ezzalzouli, Aguerd, Bono (Photo credit: CAF X)\" width=\"900\" height=\"506\"  ><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-193746\">Morocco players Hakimi, Ezzalzouli, Aguerd, Bono<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In the Round of 16 against Tanzania, a Moroccan defender clearly pushed a Tanzanian attacker in the box, but the referee did not award a penalty, and the game ended 1-0.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, in the quarterfinal against Cameroon, there was another contentious penalty shout for Bryan Mbeumo that was never scrutinized.<\/p>\n<h2>Soccer \u200bAsisat Oshoala Calls Out CAF and Morocco After Super Eagles Loss<\/h2>\n<p>\u200bIn recent years, Morocco has been hosting many of CAF&#8217;s major competitions. They hosted the last Women&#8217;s Africa Cup of Nations, which Nigeria won, and they are set to host the next edition later this year.<\/p>\n<p>They also hosted the recent U-23 AFCON, the U-17 AFCON, and now the senior AFCON.<\/p>\n<p>\u200bSuper Falcons legend Asisat Oshoala has now put Morocco and CAF under the searchlight. The Super Falcons won the WAFCON, and players like Rasheedat Ajibade and Esther Okoronkwo were outstanding for both club and country. (Photo by MansaxAyoolaxImago)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Nigeria&#8217;s loss to Morocco on Wednesday, brought things to a head for Oshoala, and she took to social media to share her frustrations regarding the perceived bias.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe big question here is when will this whole CAF compensation to Morocco end,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/i\/status\/2011581212532621806\">Oshoala wrote.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAwards, tournaments and all\u2026\u2026it\u2019s getting boring now. We need other countries to step up. Everything concerning African football happens in Morocco, feels like that\u2019s the new HQ\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Oshoala is a heavyweight on the African continent. In fact, she is undoubtedly the greatest female footballer that the continent has produced.<\/p>\n<p>She has won the CAF best award a record six times.
