His form has made him the central figure in Morocco\u2019s title push, and the main threat <a href=\"https:\/\/soccernet.ng\/tag\/nigeria\">Nigeria<\/a> must contain.<\/p>\n<p>Yet Chelle insists there will be no individual \u2018anti-Diaz&#8217; plan.<\/p>\n<p>When asked directly about a specific strategy to neutralise the Moroccan star, the Franco-Malian coach responded with a smile, making it clear that his focus is on Morocco as a collective force rather than one outstanding individual.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_193376\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-193376\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/soccernet.ng\/app\/uploads\/2026\/01\/imago1071067847-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Soccer Morocco head coach Walid Regragui with the Atlas Lions\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1707\"  ><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-193376\">Morocco. The former Mali national team boss prefers to focus on the strength of his own team, noting that Morocco are <strong>\u201ca complete, structured and dangerous team at all levels of the game<\/strong>\u201d and that only a collective Nigerian performance can deal with them.<\/p>\n<p>That same calm extended to the prospect of penalties.<\/p>\n<p>The Super Eagles lost a World Cup intercontinental playoff spot to DR Congo in November via a penalty shootout defeat.<\/p>\n<p>Asked about Nigeria\u2019s preparations for a shootout in case the Morocco game extends beyond extra-time, Chelle joked:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cI will go to the mosque to pray to win if we get to a penalty shootout.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"attachment_193398\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-193398\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/soccernet.ng\/app\/uploads\/2026\/01\/G968TLgXgAEk1p2-1.jpeg\" alt=\"Soccer Super Eagles\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1442\"  ><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-193398\">Photo Credit: Super Eagles X<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Behind the humour, however, lies the understanding that this semi-final, between two of Africa\u2019s most in-form sides, could be decided by the finest of margins.<\/p>\n<p>Chelle admitted the contest would be fiercely contested.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe are ready to play a great match that will mark this Africa Cup of Nations,\u201d he said, describing Morocco as a \u201cgreat team\u201d with \u201cvery good players capable of making the difference.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo get a good result against Morocco, you have to be 100% ready and leave nothing to chance.
