The college football<\/a> coaching carousel has already taken us for a wild ride, which could lead us to an even more chaotic transfer portal cycle.<\/p>\n Unlike the last few years, though, the transfer portal didn’t officially open for all players until Jan. 2, as the NCAA approved to only have one transfer portal window this offseason. This portal will run through Jan. 16.\u00a0<\/p>\n Throughout the last several weeks, some players have been either declaring their intention or letting word of their intentions to enter the portal leak out.\u00a0<\/p>\n Let’s take a look at some of the top players who entered the transfer portal and their landing spots:<\/p>\n [Let’s Debate: <\/strong><\/i>9 Best College Football Players Entering the Transfer Portal<\/strong><\/i><\/a>]<\/strong><\/i><\/p>\n Koi Perich<\/a> committed to Oregon on Monday. Perich played two seasons at Minnesota<\/a>, totaling a Big Ten-best five interceptions as a freshman. He also returned punts for the Golden Gophers. He’ll continue his collegiate career in Eugene, Oregon.\u00a0<\/p>\n Quarterback Beau Pribula committed to Virginia<\/a> on Monday. Pribula last played for Missouri, where he threw for 1,941 yards and 11 touchdowns. The fifth-year senior reportedly toured University of Washington amid the Demond Williams Jr. chaos, but ultimately landed with the Hokies.<\/p>\n After plenty of searching, Lane Kiffin has finally found his starting quarterback for his first season at LSU. Former Arizona State<\/a> star quarterback Sam Leavitt<\/a> has committed to LSU, according to multiple reports<\/a>. Leavitt was the top-ranked player and quarterback in the transfer portal, per 247 Sports. He helped Arizona State reach the College Football Playoff in 2024, spearheading a turnaround season for the Sun Devils as they won the Big 12. He entered the 2025 season with some buzz of potentially being a top quarterback prospect in the 2026 NFL Draft.<\/p>\n Instead, Leavitt will continue his college career at LSU, becoming one of over two dozen transfer players to commit to the Tigers ahead of Kiffin’s first season in Baton Rouge.\u00a0<\/p>\n Dylan Raiola<\/a> is staying in the Big Ten, and Oregon has some insurance if Dante Moore<\/a> enters the NFL Draft. The former Nebraska<\/a> quarterback has committed to Oregon, he announced. Raiola had been a standout for Nebraska over his first two seasons in Lincoln, helping the Cornhuskers become bowl-eligible for the first time in several years. However, Raiola missed the final month of the 2025 season due to a leg injury. He has two years remaining of eligibility.<\/p>\n As for Oregon, Raiola is just the latest high-profile quarterback that Dan Lanning has landed in the portal. Bo Nix, Dillon Gabriel and Moore were also portal adds. Moore is deliberating his college future following Oregon’s loss to Indiana in the College Football Playoff semifinals as he’s projected to be a first-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft if he declares. \u00a0<\/p>\n Arch Manning<\/a> has himself a new star to throw to. Cam Coleman<\/a> will transfer to Texas, he announced. Coleman was the top wide receiver and the fourth-ranked player in the transfer portal, per 247 Sports. Coleman was a five-star recruit in the Class of 2024 and lived up to his ranking during his time at Auburn, going for over 1,300 receiving yards during his time with the Tigers.\u00a0<\/p>\n Auburn QB Deuce Knight<\/a> Commits to Ole Miss<\/p>\n After Trinidad Chambliss’ waiver for another year of eligibility was denied, Ole Miss might have landed its quarterback for the 2026 season on Sunday. Former Auburn quarterback Deuce Knight has committed to Ole Miss, ESPN reported Sunday. Knight was one of the top quarterback recruits in the Class of 2025 and the 19th-best player in the transfer portal this offseason, per 247 Sports.\u00a0<\/p>\n Days after reportedly<\/a> committing to Baylor<\/a>, Lagway has now resumed taking visits and remains undecided, ESPN reported Jan. 9<\/a>. Baylor remains linked to Lagway, but Ole Miss is considered to be another program that has consistently expressed interest in the two-year Florida starter.<\/p>\n Lagway was the No. 1 quarterback recruit in the Class of 2024, totaled 2,264 passing yards, 16 passing touchdowns, an SEC<\/a>-high 14 interceptions and a 127.0 passer rating this season, while completing 63.2% of his passes. The Gators fired head coach Billy Napier in October. Lagway will join a Baylor team that’s coming off a 5-7 season.<\/p>\n Big Ten<\/a> rushing leader Justice Haynes<\/a> is transferring again after an injury-shortened single season at Michigan<\/a>.<\/p>\n Haynes, who played his first two college seasons at Alabama<\/a>, announced on social media Friday that he planned “to return for another year of college football and enter the transfer portal.”<\/p>\n Haynes ran for 857 yards and 10 touchdowns, with more than 100 yards in six of his seven games during his only season with the Wolverines. He missed their last five games because of a right foot injury, but still qualified as the Big Ten leader with 122.4 yards per game and 7.1 yards per carry.<\/p>\n The 5-foot-11, 210-pounder from Alpharetta, Georgia<\/a>, ran for 616 yards and nine touchdowns in 25 games for Alabama in 2023 and 2024. He started six games as a sophomore before transferring to Michigan.<\/p>\n USC<\/a> freshman quarterback Husan Longstreet<\/a> entered the portal on Thursday. After one season with the Trojans, playing backup to starter Jayden Maiava<\/a>, Longstreet, a five-star recruit, will seek his own starting opportunity rather than wait another season behind Maiava. \u00a0<\/p>\n After one season at North Carolina, Lopez is reportedly<\/a> transferring to ACC<\/a>-rival Wake Forest. This season, Lopez totaled 1,747 passing yards, 10 passing touchdowns, five interceptions and a 130.2 passer rating, while completing 65.1% of his passes. He also rushed for 133 yards and three touchdowns. Lopez previously played at South Alabama<\/a> from 2023-24. He joins a Wake Forest team that’s coming off a 9-4 season.<\/p>\n Alex Golesh will have one of his top players from USF<\/a> follow him to Auburn. Byrum Brown<\/a> has committed to Auburn, the quarterback announced Tuesday<\/a>. Brown was named second-team All-AAC in 2025, helping USF get big wins over Boise State<\/a> and Florida<\/a> earlier in the 2025 campaign. He has one season of eligibility remaining.\u00a0<\/p>\n In a portal surprise, Nebraska has lost a quarterback commit, while Kentucky has gained one of the top backup quarterbacks in the country. Former Notre Dame<\/a> quarterback Kenny Minchey<\/a> has flipped his commitment from Nebraska to Kentucky. He told multiple outlets on Sunday that he had committed to Nebraska, but walked back on that commitment to sign with Kentucky on Monday. Minchey backed up CJ Carr<\/a> in 2025 after finishing second to him in the QB battle. Minchey, a four-star recruit, has two years of eligibility remaining.<\/p>\n Weeks after entering the transfer portal<\/a> in mid-December, Sorsby has reportedly made his decision.<\/p>\n Sorsby, the top available player in the portal, will remain in school after committing to Texas Tech<\/a>. His decision came after a “48-hour visit flurry that included visits to Tech and LSU,” per ESPN<\/a>; Sorsby also weighed the possibility of the 2026 NFL Draft<\/a> prior to Sunday’s news.<\/p>\n Sorsby helped Cincinnati<\/a> have a surprise rise early in the 2025 season, leading the Bearcats to a 7-1 start before finishing 7-5. Sorsby had 36 total touchdowns in 2025, showing strong ability as a dual-threat quarterback.<\/p>\n Indiana<\/a> has landed another standout quarterback in the transfer portal. Josh Hoover<\/a> will commit to Indiana, ESPN reported<\/a>. Hoover will almost assuredly be Indiana’s starting quarterback next season as Heisman winner Fernando Mendoza<\/a> is projected by many to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Hoover was viewed as one of the top few quarterbacks in the transfer portal as he’s expected to be the active leader in passing yards and touchdown passes in college football when the 2026 season arrives.\u00a0<\/p>\n Rocco Becht<\/a> is following head coach Matt Campbell to Penn State<\/a>. The quarterback has committed to the Nittany Lions, he told ESPN<\/a>. Becht had been Iowa State’s<\/a> primary starting quarterback since 2023. The soon-to-be redshirt senior has averaged 3,069.7 passing yards, 21.3 passing touchdowns, 8.7 interceptions and a 141.1 passer rating per season since 2023, while completing 60.8% of his passes. Becht has also rushed for eight touchdowns in each of the last two seasons.\u00a0<\/p>\n Indiana is loading up in the transfer portal again. Nick Marsh<\/a> is committing to Indiana, according to multiple reports<\/a>. Marsh was widely regarded as one of the top wide receivers in the transfer portal. Marsh, a sophomore, has logged 100 receptions for 1,311 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in two seasons in East Lansing, forming a strong connection with former Michigan State quarterback Aidan Chiles<\/a>.<\/p>\n On a visit to the school, Edwards, who played at Wisconsin<\/a> last season, committed to North Carolina<\/a>, per ESPN<\/a>. Edwards began his career at Wake Forest<\/a> in 2021, followed by a three-year stint at Maryland<\/a> (2022-24) and one year at Wisconsin<\/a>. Edwards’ 2025 campaign was limited to just two games due to a knee injury.<\/p>\n He was Maryland’s primary quarterback in 2024, totaling 2,881 passing yards, 15 passing touchdowns, five rushing touchdowns, nine interceptions and a 130.1 passer rating, while completing 65.0% of his passes. Edwards joins a Tar Heels team that’s coming off a 4-8 season, its first under head coach Bill Belichick.<\/p>\n Former North Texas<\/a> quarterback Drew Mestemaker<\/a> reportedly committed<\/a> to Oklahoma<\/a> State on Saturday. Mestemaker entered the transfer portal on Friday, and needed just one day to make his decision. He led all FBS teams with 4,379 passing yards, and led the American conference in completion percentage (68.9%) and touchdowns (34). \u00a0<\/p>\n Simmons is entering the portal after the Rebels’ College Football Playoff run ends, per ESPN<\/a>. Moreover, when Simmons enters the portal, he’s expected to join Missouri<\/a>, which lost 2025 starting quarterback Beau Pribula<\/a> to the portal. Simmons, who was at Ole Miss<\/a> for three seasons (2023-25), entered this season as the Rebels’ starting quarterback, but a Week 2 ankle injury made Trinidad Chambliss<\/a> the team’s new signal-caller. Ole Miss advanced to the semifinal round of the College Football Playoff on Jan. 1.<\/p>\n Berry is reportedly<\/a> leaving Ann Arbor after four seasons (2022-25). This season, Berry totaled one interception, a Big Ten<\/a>-high 10 passes defended and 33 combined tackles. Last year, he reeled in two interceptions and nine passes defended.<\/p>\n Endries is reportedly<\/a> entering the portal for the second time in his collegiate career. After three seasons at California<\/a> (2022-24), Endries transferred to Texas for the 2025 season; he totaled 33 receptions for 346 yards and three touchdowns in a 10-3 season for the Longhorns.<\/p>\n After three seasons in Ann Arbor, Morgan has reportedly<\/a> entered the portal. Over his three seasons at Michigan (2023-25), Morgan averaged 23.0 receptions for 188.7 yards and 1.3 touchdowns per season. The Wolverines, who went 9-4 this season, fired head coach Sherrone Moore after the regular season following an investigation determining that Moore had an “inappropriate relationship with a staff member” and recently hired former Utah Utes<\/a> coach Kyle Whittingham as their new head coach.<\/p>\n Georgia Tech<\/a> redshirt sophomore wide receiver Bailey Stockton<\/a> announced on X Thursday he will enter the transfer portal. Stockton had 21 catches for 233 yards this season as No. 24 Georgia Tech finished 9-4 with a 25-21 loss to BYU<\/a> in the Pop-Tarts Bowl in Orlando, Fla., on Saturday.<\/p>\n Georgia Tech previously has had quarterback Aaron Philo<\/a>, defensive backs Christian Pritchett<\/a> and D.J. Moore<\/a>, linebacker Melvin Jordan IV<\/a> and offensive linemen Peyton Joseph<\/a>, Tana Alo-Tupuola<\/a> and Ben Galloway announce plans to transfer.<\/p>\n Biles is going portaling, per ESPN<\/a>. The two-time All-ACC<\/a> honoree spent the first three seasons of his collegiate career at Pittsburgh<\/a>. This season, Biles totaled two forced fumbles, two interceptions \u2014 running back both of them for a touchdown \u2014 four passes defended, 4.5 sacks, an ACC-high 17.0 tackles for loss and 101 combined tackles.<\/p>\n Daley announced<\/a> that he’s entering the portal after two seasons at Utah<\/a>, a stint that was preceded by one season at BYU<\/a> (2023). This season, Daley totaled two forced fumbles, 11.5 sacks, a Big 12<\/a>-high 17.5 tackles for loss and 48 combined tackles. Daley’s transfer comes in the wake of Utah head coach of 21 full-time seasons Kyle Whittingham stepping down and later becoming the next head coach at Michigan<\/a>; Utes defensive coordinator Morgan Scalley was promoted to head coach.<\/p>\n The Dukes’ starting quarterback announced on Dec. 26<\/a> that he’s entering the portal. Barnett was JMU’s<\/a> primary QB the past two years and with the program the last four seasons (2022-25). This season, one that saw the Dukes make the College Football Playoff, Barnett totaled 2,806 passing yards, 23 passing touchdowns, eight interceptions and a 138.3 passer rating, while completing 58.4% of his passes. He also rushed for 589 yards and 15 touchdowns.<\/p>\n Wisner, the Longhorns’ eading rusher in each of the past two seasons, is set to enter the transfer portal when it opens, per ESPN<\/a>. Wisner rushed for 597 yards as a junior this season, with another 146 yards receiving in just nine games. In a full 2024 campaign, he rushed for 1,064 yards in and 5 touchdowns in 226 attempts over 15 games, with 1,375 total yards from scrimmage. He is the fourth running back for Texas<\/a> who has declared their intention to enter the portal, along with Jerrick Gibson<\/a>, Rickey Stewart Jr.<\/a> and 2023 Big 12 offensive newcomer of the year CJ Baxter Jr.<\/a><\/p>\n Baxter tore his ACL ahead of the 2024 season and played in just eight games in 2025 due to injury. Prioro to that, he was the No. 1 running back recruit in the Class of 2023, per 247 Sports.\u00a0<\/p>\n After one season under center for Missouri<\/a>, Pribula is hopping in the portal. Pribula started 10 games for Missouri this season; he missed two games due to an ankle injury. Pribula totaled 1,941 passing yards, 11 passing touchdowns, nine interceptions and a 134.6 passer rating, while completing 67.4% of his passes. He also rushed for 297 yards and six scores. Pribula spent the first two seasons of his collegiate career at Penn State (2023-24) backing up Drew Allar<\/a>.<\/p>\n Chiles, who has one season of eligibility left, reportedly made a decision on Jan. 6 to commit to Northwestern<\/a>, per ESPN<\/a>. The former Spartans quarterback announced on Dec. 15<\/a> he would enter the transfer portal; he recorded 1,392 yards, 10 touchdowns and three interceptions in eight games in 2025.\u00a0<\/p>\n A highly-touted recruit in 2023, Chiles initially committed to Oregon State<\/a> and played one season with the Beavers before transferring to MSU<\/a> when Jonathan Smith became head coach in 2024.<\/p>\n Edwards is expected to enter the transfer portal, ESPN reported in November<\/a>. He was limited to playing in just four games this past season due to injury. He has 14 touchdowns in 28 career games.<\/p>\n Lonergan has announced he’ll enter the transfer portal<\/a>. The redshirt sophomore transferred to BC<\/a> from Alabama<\/a> last offseason, serving as the Eagles’ starter for most of the 2025 season. Lonergan was a four-star recruit in 2023.<\/p>\n Craig told ESPN<\/a> he intends to enter the transfer portal. He’s expected to be one of the top FCS players in the portal this offseason, breaking Harvard’s<\/a> records for career passing yards (6,074) and touchdowns (52). He has one more season left of eligibi<\/a>lity.<\/p>\n Finley announced on social media<\/a> that he intends to enter the transfer portal for a remarkable sixth time and is seeking a seventh year of eligibility. The well-traveled quarterback spent his first year at LSU<\/a> before spending two years at Auburn<\/a> and a year each at Texas State<\/a>, Western Kentucky<\/a> and GSU<\/a>; Finley also transferred to Tulane<\/a> after WKU but never played a down after being suspended before the season.
