The college football transfer portal<\/a> is open.<\/p>\n The two-week period from Jan. 2-16 is the lone opening for Louisville football<\/a>, and most FBS programs this year.<\/p>\n An additional five-day period between\u00a0Jan. 20-24 will be available\u00a0for those who compete in the\u00a0College Football Playoff<\/a>\u00a0national championship game on Jan. 19.\u00a0In September, the\u00a0Division I Administrative Committee<\/span>\u00a0voted to\u00a0go\u00a0from having two portal openings \u2014 one after the regular season and the other after spring football \u2014 to\u00a0only\u00a0one in January<\/a>,\u00a0a move Louisville head coach\u00a0Jeff Brohm<\/a>\u00a0says\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0in favor of.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n \u201cYou want to give players an opportunity to make decisions and do what\u2019s best for them when the\u00a0season\u2019s\u00a0over, and we\u2019re all for it,\u201d said Brohm, two days before the move was official.\u00a0\u201cWhether\u00a0that\u2019s\u00a0here or somewhere else,\u00a0we\u2019re\u00a0all for it. And then you want to try to get your roster\u00a0set,\u00a0so you\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0have to do it again in May when people really\u00a0haven\u2019t\u00a0played a game yet. I think\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0beneficial for the game of football.”<\/p>\n UofL capped its season with a 27-22 victory<\/a> over Toledo in the Boca Raton Bowl<\/a> on Dec. 23 for a 9-4 record<\/a>. Its biggest offseason losses will affect the running back room most with Isaac Brown, Duke Watson and former receiver-turned-running back Shaun Boykins set to leave the program<\/a>. The Cardinals will also lose three quarterbacks to the transfer portal, including true freshman Mason Mims.<\/p>\n Brohm\u00a0won\u2019t\u00a0have to do as much of the heavy lifting in finding replacements and replenishing lost production this time around. General manager\u00a0Vince Marrow<\/a>\u00a0is taking on\u00a0roster\u00a0evaluation responsibilities\u00a0and will have\u00a0two new staff members<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 Nate Dennison and Chase\u00a0Heuke\u00a0\u2014 there to help\u00a0on\u00a0the recruiting\u00a0and GM front.\u00a0Marrow already retained defensive lineman Micah Carter, who had announced his plans of transferring<\/a> but seemed to have reversed course after meeting with Marrow.<\/a><\/p>\n Here are Louisville\u2019s outgoing transfers:<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n The Baylor transfer ends his lone season with UofL after recording 53 tackles, three for loss, and two pass breakups while starting in three of 13 games played.<\/p>\n The two-year starter was known for making highlight-worthy plays, including the game-winning pass breakup in the 2024 Sun Bowl, but had his redshirt junior season end early due to an undisclosed injury. He still finished with a team-leading three interceptions and totaled 42 tackles, 6 \u00bd for loss, three pass breakups, two sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 10 games played.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n The Floridian made history as Louisville’s first 1,000-yard rusher, ending the 2024 campaign with 1,173 yards and 11 touchdown on 165 carries, averaging 90.2 rushing yards per game. Although he struggled to stay healthy as a sophomore and missed three games, Brown was still the team’s leading receiver with 884 yards and seven TDs on 101 rush attempts.<\/p>\n In his lone season at UofL, the San Jose State transfer totaled 122 yards and a touchdown on 15 receptions after starting in 11 of 13 games played this fall.<\/p>\n Watson’s sophomore season was marred by injuries, resulting in him missing six games. But he finished the year with 158 yards and a touchdown on 49 carries a year removed from tallying 597 rushing yards and seven scores as a true freshman.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n The three-star prospect signed with the Cardinals as part of the 2025 recruiting class but never saw the field as a true freshman.<\/p>\n The Oklahoma transfer played in only two games in his lone season with the Cardinals. He had an 8-yard catch in the season opener against Eastern Kentucky.<\/p>\n Porter was a three-star prospect coming out of high school and never played a game for the Cardinals after redshirting in 2024.<\/p>\n After redshirting in 2024, McDermott played one snap against Eastern Kentucky this year.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n Adams was the Cardinals’ first signee from Texas in more than a decade. After redshirting last year, he got his first collegiate start in the Week 13 loss to SMU and played in six games this season, totaling 112 yards on 15-for-21 passing (71.4%).<\/p>\n After transferring from Southeast Missouri State, Guillaume played 11 snaps over two games for UofL, 10 of which were at left guard during the season opener against Eastern Kentucky.<\/p>\n Though not a major part of the receiver rotation, Hughes was a quality wideout, totaling 109 yards and a touchdown on eight receptions for an average of 13.6 yards per catch over 11 games played.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n The Manual High School graduate didn’t play during his two seasons with the Cardinals.<\/p>\n Kurisky spent the last four years at UofL and was the team’s starting tight end in 2023 and 2025. He totaled a career-best 157 yards and two touchdowns on 20 receptions this season, ending his time as a Cardinal with 50 receptions for 410 yards and seven scores.<\/p>\n The Ohio native was a three-star prospect and the No. 40 player in his home state during the 2025 recruiting cycle. His departure comes on the heels of the Cardinals losing tight ends coach Ryan Wallace to Oregon State.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n The North Hardin High School graduate accepted the challenge of learning a new position this season, moving from wide receiver to running back. As injuries ran rampant in the running back room, Boykins was afforded more opportunities, especially late in the season. He ended his redshirt freshman season with 190 yards and a touchdown on 37 carries over nine games played.<\/p>\n The redshirt sophomore’s preseason bulk-up allowed him to be a quality reserve for the Cardinals’ defensive line rotation. He played 364 snaps over 13 games and totaled 31 tackles, six for loss, with four sacks, four quarterback hurries, a forced fumble and fumble recovery during the 2025 campaign.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n The Indiana native got his start with Brohm at Purdue in\u00a02022 and came to Louisville a year later.\u00a0Allen has\u00a0played in\u00a0six games over the last three seasons, totaling 82 yards and one touchdown on 9-for-13\u00a0passing\u00a0(69%).<\/p>\n The redshirt sophomore only played on special teams for four games and had one tackle this season.<\/p>\n McCullough transferred to Louisville from Oklahoma in 2024 and\u00a0played in\u00a0five games. This season, he only\u00a0played in\u00a0one game and had one tackle.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n The Male High School graduate\u00a0announced his intention to leave his hometown university on Dec. 17 after spending the last four years with the program. But during that time,\u00a0he only\u00a0played in\u00a013 games, tallying two tackles.
