George Clooney announced the death of his sister Adelia \u201cAda\u201d Zeidler in an emotional statement. <\/p>\n

\u201cMy sister, Ada, was my hero,\u201d the \u201cOcean\u2019s 11\u201d star told People<\/a> on Saturday. <\/p>\n

\u201cShe faced down cancer with courage and humor. I\u2019ve never met anyone so brave,\u201d he continued. \u201cAmal and I will miss her terribly.\u201d<\/p>\n

The outlet confirmed Clooney\u2019s older sibling died at age 65 Friday.<\/p>\n

An obituary <\/a>for the Augusta, Ky resident said she was born in Los Angeles in 1960 and \u201cdied peacefully surrounded by the people she loved\u201d in a medical facility. <\/p>\n

Survivors include her parents Nick and Nina Bruce Clooney, children, Nick Zeidler and Allison Zeidler Herolaga, husband Kenny, George and his wife Amal Clooney, and \u201cseveral uncles, aunts, and cousins,\u201d the obituary read. <\/p>\n

She was preceded in death by husband Norman Zeidler, who died in 2004.<\/p>\n

Zeidler was a former elementary art teacher and high school National Merit Scholar who loved reading, and she grew up alongside her brother in Augusta. <\/p>\n

Her aunt Rosemary Clooney performed at her wedding to Norman in 1987, where George read scripture, according to People<\/a>. <\/p>\n

A memorial will be held for Zeidler on Monday. <\/p>\n

A rep for Clooney did not immediately return Page Six\u2019s request for comment. <\/p>\n

Though she lived a private life, Zeidler was seen attending her little brother\u2019s lavish Venice, Italy wedding <\/a>to human rights attorney Amal in 2014. <\/p>\n

Photos showed the proud sister sitting alongside the \u201cWolfs\u201d actor, 64, in a boat amid the celebration. She wore a silver, beaded dress with sheer sleeves for the star-studded nuptials. <\/p>\n

In a 2012 interview with the New York Daily News, Zeidler confessed that she was protective enough not <\/em>to have her brother\u2019s phone number. <\/p>\n

\u201cI wouldn\u2019t want to have it in my phone and then lose my phone,\u201d she said at the time, via the Columbus Dispatch<\/a>. \u201cHe can phone me, and he does occasionally, but email is more convenient for both of us.\u201d<\/p>\n

George previously confirmed his tight bond with his sister. \u201cMy sister, I\u2019m very close to,\u201d he told\u00a0\u201cCBS This Morning<\/a>\u201d\u00a0back in 2015.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
