Each week includes workshops and \u2018esports play sessions\u2019 to combine digital learning within a safe and inclusive environment. The funds from the UK Government will go towards training and content development. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Sheffield United<\/strong>\u2018s Community Foundation will act as the initiative\u2019s accountable body, while <strong>Sheffield Hallam University<\/strong> provides external advisory input.<\/p>\n<p>The 10 football club charities involved will act as the pilot for the initiative. Depending on the pilot\u2019s success, the initiative will expand across all 72 clubs that are part of the EFL pyramid.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re incredibly grateful to receive the Government\u2019s support for this new Safe to Play campaign with the EFL,\u201d said <strong>Chester King<\/strong>, <strong>President of British Esports<\/strong>. \u201cThis backing will allow us to work alongside Sheffield United\u2019s Community Foundation and other partners to deliver vital digital skills and online safety training to young people through esports.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"esi-heading-694b27eedccdd\">\n<h2>Football <span id=\"british_esports_in_2025-2\">British Esports In 2025<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<p>Throughout 2025, British Esports has continued to expand its presence within the UK\u2019s growing esports industry. In July, the national body revealed <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/esportsinsider.com\/2025\/07\/british-esports-facility-2026-opening\">its dedicated esports and gaming facility<\/a><\/strong> is set to open in 2026, acting as a hub for training and education.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, it joined forces with<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/esportsinsider.com\/2025\/07\/uk-ministry-of-defence-british-esports-partnership\"> the UK Ministry of Defence<\/a><\/strong> to collaborate on the <strong>International Defence Esports Games<\/strong>, an annual tournament open to members of the UK\u2019s armed forces.<\/p>\n<p>The UK\u2019s football scene has continued to embrace esports as a fan engagement tool.
