{"id":878787,"date":"2025-12-18T23:29:11","date_gmt":"2025-12-19T05:29:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2025\/12\/18\/world-leaders-adopt-declaration-on-non-communicable-diseases-mental-health\/"},"modified":"2025-12-18T23:29:11","modified_gmt":"2025-12-19T05:29:11","slug":"world-leaders-adopt-declaration-on-non-communicable-diseases-mental-health","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2025\/12\/18\/world-leaders-adopt-declaration-on-non-communicable-diseases-mental-health\/","title":{"rendered":"World leaders adopt declaration on non-communicable diseases, mental health"},"content":{"rendered":"<article id=\"post-770080\">\n<div>\n<figure>\n<img decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\" width=\"246\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/blueprint.ng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/06\/mental-health-.jpg\" alt title=\"mental health\"><br \/>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Leaders from across the world at the 18th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Tuesday adopted the political declaration to combat non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and mental health challenges through a fully integrated approach.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The outcome of the intergovernmental negotiations in advance of and considered by the fourth high-level meeting of the UNGA on the prevention and control of NCDs and the promotion of mental health and well-being, held on 25 September, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Titled: \u201cEquity and integration: transforming lives and livelihoods through leadership and action on non-communicable diseases and the promotion of mental health and well-being,\u201d the political declaration is the first such declaration addressing NCDs and mental health together, and it marks a unique opportunity to accelerate global progress with a set of specific global targets for 2030.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The step is expected to usher in a new era in addressing some of the world\u2019s most pressing health challenges affecting people of all ages and income levels across the globe.<\/p>\n<p>NCDs are often driven by preventable risk factors such as unhealthy diets, tobacco use, alcohol consumption, physical inactivity, and air pollution, many of which also negatively impact mental health.
