Charlene Ruto has officially dropped the criminal case against Webster Ochora Elijah, the author of a controversial book about her. The President\u2019s daughter\u00a0withdrew the case on Monday after both parties struck a reconciliation deal that placed tough conditions on the writer, whom she had accused of impersonating her.<\/p>\n

Milimani Magistrate Robinson Ondieki received the agreement in court the same day. It was entered under Section 176 of the Criminal Procedure Code and Article 159(2)(c) of the Constitution, both of which promote resolution of disagreements outside of court.<\/p>\n

The letter reads that \u201cthe accused offered an apology, which the complainant has accepted, leading to the resolution of the matter.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tough Restrictions on Ochora<\/h3>\n

As part of the deal, Ochora is prohibited from publishing, distributing, or sharing his book \u2013 or any other material \u2013 that directly or indirectly references Charlene or the disputed events.<\/p>\n

The agreement clearly states: \u201cThe accused shall not publish, distribute, disseminate, or cause to be published in any form or medium the book or any material containing content referring to or purporting to narrate in the first person the events forming the subject matter of this case.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Ochora is also restricted from transferring rights to the book for purposes such as publication, production, or adaptation. Violation of these conditions gives Charlene the right to pursue civil remedies, and the withdrawal of the case cannot be used as a defence.<\/p>\n

The case, which was numbered as MCCR No. 314 of 2025, is now officially marked withdrawn. The case will be mentioned by the court on October 6, 2025, for further directions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
