You know that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Unfortunately, a government\u2019s white-knuckled control on the flow of information does stop reporters from disseminating information. Under War Secretary Pete Hegseth\u2019s new rules, journalists are required to pledge that they would not report on anything from the department that had not been approved for official release. The new policy, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/PeteHegseth\/status\/1969179306648613129\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">announced<\/a><span> Friday, would have journalists either report government-sponsored propaganda or have their press credentials revoked.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>But even those inside the Pentagon are not on board with Hegseth\u2019s Orwellian scheme. By Monday, three Pentagon officials had already decried the initiative, with one insider telling The Intercept that the rules were a \u201cmockery of American ideals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe idea they want editorial control over the press is something I expect from a banana republic, not the United States,\u201d the same official told <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/theintercept.com\/2025\/09\/05\/pentagon-official-trump-boat-strike-was-a-criminal-attack-on-civilians\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Intercept<\/a><span>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Representatives for America\u2019s media institutions, meanwhile, came out in full force against the restrictions.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>\u201cThis is a direct assault on independent journalism at the very place where independent scrutiny matters most: the U.S. military,\u201d National Press Club president Mike Balsamo said <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.press.org\/newsroom\/national-press-club-statement-pentagon-restrictions-threaten-independent-reporting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">in a statement<\/a><span>. \u201cIf the news about our military must first be approved by the government, then the public is no longer getting independent reporting. It is getting only what officials want them to see. That should alarm every American.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>For months, paranoia in the Pentagon has swelled while Hegseth\u2019s inner circle has continued to shrink. This latest act of censorship is another step in Hegesth\u2019s long journey to rein in his department. So far during the Fox News star\u2019s short tenure atop the military agency, the Pentagon has experienced several astounding leaks that have rattled the Trump administration and its credibility on the international stage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Those include instances in which <i>The Atlantic<\/i>\u2019s editor in chief was invited into a Signal group chat between multiple Trump officials where they discussed real-time updates to a U.S. airstrike in Yemen, and another eyebrow-raising situation in which Hegesth intervened in U.S. foreign policy by suspending an aid shipment to Ukraine without notifying anyone\u2014including the president.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"ContainerPlacement1\">\n<p>Read more about censorship:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>President Donald Trump delivered incoherent remarks as he departed for the memorial of Charlie Kirk, claiming the event would be a \u201ctime of whatever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span>Trump <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Newyork__i\/status\/1969778078680227981\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">told<\/a><span> reporters outside the White House that he was going to \u201ccelebrate the life of a great man today. Really a great man. He\u2019s a young man, but a great man.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>\u201cAnd we look forward to it. The president spent most of his address at Kirk\u2019s memorial <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/newrepublic.com\/post\/200738\/donald-trump-charlie-kirk-memorial-whining-grievances\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">complaining<\/a><span> about his personal grievances, and even contradicted remarks from Kirk\u2019s widow by promising to enact <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/newrepublic.com\/post\/200728\/trump-message-charlie-kirk-widow-memorial\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">more political violence and retribution<\/a><span> against his administration\u2019s perceived enemies.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"ContainerPlacement1\">\n<p>Read more about the memorial:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><span>A new <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/danalexander\/2025\/09\/22\/heres-how-much-the-trump-kids-have-made-because-of-the-presidency\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><i><span>Forbes<\/span><\/i><span> report<\/span><\/a><span> reveals that the Trump family has profited enormously from the presidency,\u00a0<\/span><span>doubling its fortune to a total of about $10 billion<\/span><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>For Donald Trump, the year of his White House comeback has also been \u201cthe most lucrative year of his life,\u201d with the president raking in $3 billion, two-thirds of which came from cryptocurrency\u2014including his meme coin and World Liberty Financial, a crypto company started by his family and that of Steve Witkoff, his Middle East envoy.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>World Liberty is notably at the center of a scandal, as <\/span><span><i>The New York Times<\/i><\/span><span> <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/09\/15\/us\/politics\/trump-uae-chips-witkoff-world-liberty.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span>revealed<\/span><\/a><span> last week. In May, the firm secured a $2 billion investment from an Emirati royal who just\u00a0 happens to control a company that\u2014per a deal with the United Arab Emirates that was announced two weeks later, and which Witkoff helped negotiate\u2014will receive precious AI computer chips from the U.S. government.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Trump\u2019s second son, Eric Trump, has seen his wealth balloon from $40 million last year to an estimated $750 million, in large part thanks to crypto. His older brother, Don Jr., is worth $500 million, compared to $50 million last year, having also cashed in on crypto and \u201cthe anti-woke economy,\u201d among other ventures. The president\u2019s youngest son, Barron Trump, is worth $150 million at 19 years old\u2014again, largely from crypto.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Melania Trump, <\/span><span><i>Forbes<\/i> <\/span><span>reports, has profited in both \u201ctypical First Lady ways (books, speeches, a documentary)\u201d and \u201cunquestionably Trumpian ways.\u201d The latter category includes her own <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/newrepublic.com\/post\/199367\/trump-melania-meme-coins-crypto-lost-value\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span>meme coin<\/span><\/a><span>, $MELANIA\u2014whose inauguration-eve launch was quite a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ft.com\/content\/f5797d16-6299-444c-b990-5cbc6a7ccfca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span>shady<\/span><\/a><span> affair: A group of crypto traders took in nearly $100 million by buying $MELANIA minutes before it was announced, then off-loading most of their holdings when its value then spiked.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>The president\u2019s daughter Ivanka is worth an estimated $100 million, and her husband, Jared Kushner, is now a billionaire, with a major contributor being a private equity firm he founded the same month Trump left the White House in 2021. Kushner was a senior adviser in the first Trump administration, and has since relied on relationships he built during his tenure to court investors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Across the board, according to <\/span><i><span>Forbes<\/span><\/i><span>, the president\u2019s family has doubled its net worth since the 2024 election.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>President Donald Trump appeared to feign ignorance over the weekend about shutting down a bribery investigation into White House border czar Tom Homan.<\/p>\n<p><span>Speaking to reporters Saturday, Trump was asked about a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.msnbc.com\/msnbc\/news\/tom-homan-cash-contracts-trump-doj-investigation-rcna232568\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">MSNBC report<\/a><span> that the Department of Justice had dropped an investigation into Homan, after he was allegedly caught on camera accepting $50,000 in cash payments from undercover FBI agents posing as business executives in return for favorable contracts.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>\u201cDid you see the reporting on Tom Homan\u2014\u201d one reporter began.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cNo, I haven\u2019t,\u201d Trump <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Acyn\/status\/1969606597946327388\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">interrupted<\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The typically verbose Trump kept quiet about the latest allegations against his border czar\u2014and his administration\u2019s role in covering it up.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>Homan was allegedly caught accepting payments during a September 2024 meeting with undercover agents in Texas, promising that if Trump won, he could ensure favorable contracts for border enforcement. In recent weeks, Trump appointees at the Department of Justice have reportedly shuttered the investigation into Homan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>In a statement to MSNBC, FBI Director Kash Patel and deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche claimed the previous administration\u2019s probe had found \u201cno credible evidence of any criminal wrongdoing.\u201d White House deputy Press Secretary Abigail Jackson claimed it was a \u201cblatantly political investigation\u201d and that Homan was responsible for awarding contracts under the current Trump administration. Homan had previously served as the acting head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement during Trump\u2019s first administration. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><span>President Trump plans to \u201csave\u201d TikTok by handing it over to America\u2019s oligarchs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>A senior White House official <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2025\/09\/22\/tiktok-bytedance-trump-algorithm-lease\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span>confirmed<\/span><\/a><span> Monday that ByteDance, TikTok\u2019s Chinese parent company, plans to move an 80 percent stake of its company to America\u2019s richest, most powerful men. ByteDance will create a separate, American copy of its infamous algorithm to lease to a new group spearheaded by Marc Andreessen\u2019s Andreessen Horowitz, Larry Ellison\u2019s Oracle, and the private equity firm Silver Lake. Ellison and Oracle will then control U.S. user data and be able to shape the algorithm as they see fit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>\u201cThe algorithm will be retrained from the ground up and protected by<br \/>\nOracle to ensure Americans\u2019 data is safeguarded and foreign influence is<br \/>\n removed,\u201d a senior official <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/trump-approve-deal-ensure-tiktok-majority-owned-american-investors-administration-officials\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">told<\/a> Fox News.<\/p>\n<p><span>Trump, who has floated banning and saving TikTok multiple times now, has given the men 120 days to finalize a deal. On Sunday, the president also confirmed that Dell Technologies\u2019 Michael Dell and conservative media moguls Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch will also likely be involved in the deal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The involvement of conservative billionaires and technocrats in the deal has raised valid concerns over the future of free speech. Conservatives are on the record blaming TikTok, for example, for the fact that the overwhelming majority of young Americans are opposed to Israel\u2019s genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. Writing for Bari Weiss\u2019s Zionist news site The Free Press, former Republican representative and current <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2024\/08\/22\/palantir-hires-gallagher-defense\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span>Palantir \u201chead of defense\u201d<\/span><\/a><span> Mike Gallagher <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thefp.com\/p\/tik-tok-young-americans-hamas-mike-gallag\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span>outright blamed<\/span><\/a><span> TikTok\u2019s algorithm for making young people \u201csupport Hamas.\u201d\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>Gallagher isn\u2019t alone. In fact, his position is identical to the rest of the GOP\u2019s.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cSome wonder why there was such overwhelming support for us to shut down potentially TikTok or other entities of that nature. If you look at the postings on TikTok and the number of mentions of Palestinians relative to other social media sites, it\u2019s overwhelmingly so among TikTok broadcasts,\u201d Senator Mitt Romney <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/newrepublic.com\/post\/181327\/mitt-romney-congress-ban-tiktok-israel-gaza\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span>said<\/span><\/a><span> during a panel in May of last year. \u201cSo I\u2019d note that\u2019s of real interest, and the president will get the chance to make action in that regard.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Now, that algorithm\u2014and your data\u2014 will be retrained and refiltered by Oracle and by Ellison, who has a very close relationship with the Israel Defense Forces and believes that \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/hollywood-gala-raises-a-record-33-million-for-idf\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span>there is no greater honor<\/span><\/a><span>\u201d than supporting Israel.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>Charlie Kirk\u2019s memorial was apparently just another opportunity for the president to espouse his typical talking points.<\/p>\n<p><span>The Sunday service intended to honor Kirk\u2019s legacy featured his family, friends, and crucial members of the Trump administration, from Vice President JD Vance to Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>Speaking before an arena of mourners, some of the country\u2019s most high-profile Republicans painted Kirk as a martyr for the conservative movement, who they credited with transforming contemporary American youth politics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>But Donald Trump\u2019s turn behind the lectern was a remarkable divergence from the lineup. While the president used some of his time allotment to heap praise onto Kirk, he also leveraged the name and memory of one of the GOP\u2019s biggest firebrands to bolster his typical diatribe. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>For more than 40 minutes, Trump <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/acyn\/status\/1969906489994485769?s=46&#038;t=CIY7fYccGpYmPpiAuYI8fQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">lamented<\/a><span> over late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel, aired the supposed success of his economic tariff plan, damned the rate of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/acyn\/status\/1969895124609200258?s=46&#038;t=CIY7fYccGpYmPpiAuYI8fQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">autism<\/a><span> in America, and even negated the message of Kirk\u2019s widow by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/newrepublic.com\/post\/200728\/trump-message-charlie-kirk-widow-memorial\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">promising<\/a><span> to enact more political violence and retribution against his administration\u2019s perceived enemies.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>\u201cJust like Charlie and Erika made Turning Point hot, we are looking at a country that has a chance to attain a level like never before\u2014tariffs are making us rich again, richer than anybody ever thought was possible,\u201d Trump <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/acyn\/status\/1969898746193518604\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">said<\/a><span>. \u201cAnd the only ones challenging them are people that hate our country, or foreign countries that are paying a price.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe election was big, but the tariffs\u2014because of the election\u2014came in.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Trump also used some of his air time to talk about his planned deployment of the National Guard to Chicago, promising the stadium that he would bring the hard fist of the White House to several of the country\u2019s biggest cities.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>\u201cI\u2019m so proud of Washington, D.C., and now we\u2019re going to Memphis, and we\u2019ll get that one straightened out fast, and then we\u2019re going into some others, but we\u2019re going to go do Chicago, and we\u2019re going to have Charlie very much in mind when we go into Chicago,\u201d Trump <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/acyn\/status\/1969900384220336277\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">told<\/a><span> the roaring crowd.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>President Donald Trump doubled down Monday on his threat to send Attorney General Pam Bondi after his political enemies. <\/p>\n<p><span>Speaking to the press on Air Force One, Trump was <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Acyn\/status\/1969999033432420671\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">asked<\/a><span> whom he wanted Attorney General Pam Bondi to \u201cfocus\u201d on prosecuting. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>\u201cEverybody, really,\u201d Trump said. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThere are a lot of crooked people that were here before me. And people that almost destroyed our country,\u201d he said. \u201cIf I didn\u2019t win this election, our country would be destroyed.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>But Trump had no problem naming names in a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/kyledcheney\/status\/1969532052488774100\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Truth Social post<\/a><span> Saturday addressed to Bondi, pressuring the attorney general to get to work prosecuting his political enemies, or risk \u201ckilling our reputation and credibility.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>\u201cPam: I have reviewed over 30 statements and posts saying that, essentially, \u2018same old story as last time, all talk, no action. Nothing is being done. What about Comey, Adam \u201cShifty\u201d Schiff, Leticia? ? ? They\u2019re all guilty as hell, but nothing is going to be done,\u2019\u201d he wrote.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Trump also celebrated the resignation of Erik Siebert, the U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, whom Trump officials had <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/newrepublic.com\/article\/200697\/trump-firing-prosecutor-tish-james\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">pressured<\/a><span> to seek an indictment against New York Attorney General Letitia James. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Investigators have yet to produce a shred of evidence that James falsified bank documents to secure favorable terms on a mortgage for her Virginia home. Two Trump stooges, Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte and Ed Martin, the head of the DOJ\u2019s Working Weaponization Group, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/newrepublic.com\/post\/200565\/donald-trump-revenge-letitia-james-mortgage-fraud\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">reportedly urged<\/a><span> Siebert to seek an indictment against James at Trump\u2019s direction. When federal prosecutors declined, Pulte reportedly encouraged Trump to fire Siebert and have him replaced with someone else. On Friday, Trump was <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/newrepublic.com\/post\/200690\/donald-trump-fire-lead-attorney-revenge-letitia-james\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">ready to drop the ax<\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>Trump called Siebert \u201cA Woke RINO, who was never going to do his job\u201d in his Saturday post and claimed that he\u2019d had Siebert fired.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cLindsey is a really good lawyer, and likes you, a lot,\u201d Trump continued. He later reposted this rant, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/kyledcheney\/status\/1969535693660602434\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">clarifying<\/a><span> that he was writing about Lindsey Halligan, his personal attorney who now serves as special assistant to the president. To continue this mission, save humanity, and continue the legacy of Kirk, he said, they must vanquish the \u201cforces of darkness,\u201d their political opponents.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>At the beginning of his remarks, Miller said Kirk\u2019s widow, Erika, reminds him of a \u201cfamous expression\u201d: \u201cThe storm whispers to the warrior that, \u2018You cannot withstand my strength.\u2019 And the warrior whispers back, \u2018I am the storm.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cErika is the storm,\u201d Miller declared. \u201cWe are the storm. And our enemies cannot comprehend our strength, our determination, our resolve, our passion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cOur lineage and our legacy hails back to Athens, to Rome, to Philadelphia, to Monticello,\u201d Miller continued. \u201cOur ancestors built the cities. They produced the art and architecture.
