Galatasaray have launched legal proceedings against former referee and sports pundit Ahmet \u00c7akar following his sensational claim that Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen<\/a> is suffering from a \u2018serious health problem’, Soccernet.ng reports.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00c7akar, 63, made the allegations on Beyaz TV\u2019s Derin Futbol programme, in comments reported by Turkish outlet Gsgazete.<\/a><\/p>\n

The outspoken doctor and broadcaster said he had \u201creceived information from the Ministry of Health regarding Victor Osimhen’s illness,\u201d<\/strong> adding that he preferred not to discuss details \u201cas a sportsman and father.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

He had previously been more dramatic about the issue. When writing on his social media page late in September, \u00c7akar reportedly said<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a very sad day for me. Unfortunately, I have received information that Osimhen has a very serious health problem. I hope this is not true.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u00c7akar further alleged that he had spoken with Galatasaray\u2019s<\/a> club doctor, Yener \u0130nce, who had told him that 4\u20135 black players in the Super League have this illness, and Osimhen\u2019s test is \u201cnegative<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

The former referee, who has often courted controversy in Turkish media, went on to claim that \u201cGalatasaray officials are also aware of this situation\u201d<\/strong> and that \u201csome countries need to know about certain illnesses.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray permanently from Napoli<\/a> in the summer, is currently with Nigeria\u2019s Super Eagles in South Africa<\/a> preparing for World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin Republic. The 26-year-old has made no comment.<\/p>\n

Soccer Galatasaray respond swiftly with legal action<\/h2>\n

Galatasaray have reacted firmly to \u00c7akar\u2019s claims, believing them to be baseless, damaging, and crafted with malicious intent.<\/p>\n

According to Turkish journalist S\u00fcleyman Rodop2<\/a>, the club\u2019s management has filed formal complaints with the courts, the Ministry of Health and Turkey\u2019s media regulator, the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RT\u00dcK).<\/p>\n

Club insiders say the allegations have angered both management and the medical department, who view them as a direct attack on the integrity of the club and its medical professionals.<\/p>\n

Despite the storm in Istanbul, Osimhen remains focused on international duty. The forward recently returned from a minor chin injury and scored in Galatasaray\u2019s Champions League win over Liverpool<\/a> before featuring in the 1\u20131 derby draw with Besiktas.<\/p>\n

The former Lille man is expected to lead the attack for Nigeria when the Super Eagles<\/a> take on Lesotho on October 10 and four days later when the three-time African champions trade tackles with Benin Republic in Uyo.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
