Intermountain McKay-Dee Hospital is expanding kidney care in northern Utah with the opening of a new Intermountain Health kidney clinic in Ogden.<\/p>\n
The new medical office is located across the street from the hospital\u2019s main campus and significantly expands the number of patients who can receive care.<\/p>\n
37 million Americans have some degree of kidney disease, which is about 1 in 7 adults. Catching issues early and the use of medication has shown to slow chronic kidney disease, according to kidney health experts at Intermountain McKay-Dee Hospital.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe goal of our clinic is to treat patients early and avoid more serious treatments like dialysis,\u201d said Kristen Lile, MD, lead nephrologist for Intermountain Kidney Services at Intermountain McKay-Dee Hospital. \u201cWith this clinic expansion we can take on more appointments and reduce people\u2019s wait time for an appointment.\u201d<\/p>\n
At the new Intermountain Ogden clinic, patients will benefit from a dedicated team of caregivers including physicians, advanced practice providers and specialized kidney care nurse navigators who help patients through every step of the process.<\/p>\n
With eight exam rooms, caregivers can see more patients and give them the personalized and proactive care they need.<\/p>\n
Tailored treatments plans help patients better manage their kidney health. If dialysis becomes necessary for a patient, caregivers will help them transition to home dialysis whenever possible.<\/p>\n
Although millions of people suffer from severe kidney disease, 9 in 10 people don\u2019t even know they have it. That\u2019s why doctors encourage people to go in for their annual physical with their primary care doctor for testing.<\/p>\n
