Together, they will draw up proposals for a phased regeneration programme to be presented to the council early next year.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"643\" data-end=\"887\">The East Street site is located beside the Treasury\u2019s new northern headquarters, part of the Darlington Economic Campus, which was launched in 2021. The council said the project would seek to maximise the benefits of this government relocation.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"889\" data-end=\"1066\">The appointment was made following a competitive procurement process.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"889\" data-end=\"1066\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/contractors\/willmott-dixon\/\">Willmott Dixon<\/a> did not disclose the value of its contract, which is\u00a0to be finalised once development options are agreed.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"889\" data-end=\"1066\">But according to Darlington Borough Council\u2019s investment plan, the overall regeneration plan involves \u00a340.5m of funding.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1353\" data-end=\"1501\">Darlington Borough Council cabinet member for economy Chris McEwan said the partnership would focus on areas \u201cripe for development and improvement\u201d.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1503\" data-end=\"1638\">Cityheart development director James Litherland said the firm had assembled a \u201cNorth East team\u201d capable of delivering long-term change.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1640\" data-end=\"1780\" data-is-last-node data-is-only-node>Architects for the three-site scheme have been named as Space Architects.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1068\" data-end=\"1351\">Willmott Dixon\u00a0 previously delivered various public-sector projects in Darlington, including the refurbishment of the Hippodrome Theatre (pictured).
