Google, Microsoft, Nvidia, and OpenAI also made announcements earlier this week to build data centers in the U.K., while CoreWeave and Salesforce <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/trump-to-sign-us-uk-tech-partnership-in-drive-for-ai-13432253\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">announced a multibillion-pound<\/a> investment in the country. Overall, American tech firms committed a total of \u00a331 billion ($42 billion) to boost AI infrastructure in the U.K.<\/p>\n<p>This state banquet guest list seems to have featured more tech and business names <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/whos-who-at-trumps-second-state-banquet-13432974\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">than the Hollywood types<\/a> that often attend such affairs.<\/p>\n<p>This change reveals the shifting economic needs of the U.K. and U.S. in the age of AI, as well as the<a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/07\/23\/trumps-anti-woke-ai-order-could-reshape-how-us-tech-companies-train-their-models\/\"> rising prominence of technology<\/a> and its leaders in Trump\u2019s second administration. Just this past year, numerous Big Tech companies like OpenAI, Google, and Apple have pledged to work with the government, from <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/08\/06\/openai-is-practically-giving-chatgpt-to-the-government-for-free\/\">providing AI assistant tools<\/a> to government services to <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/07\/30\/big-tech-to-work-with-trump-administration-to-build-digital-health-ecosystem\/\">building digital health ecosystems<\/a> for the U.S. health industry.<\/p>\n<p>The president has also taken a sharper focus on tech \u2014 criticizing Tim Cook <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/05\/15\/trump-tells-apples-ceo-to-stop-expanding-iphone-production-in-india\/\">for Apple\u2019s outsourced supply chain<\/a>, signing an \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/07\/23\/trumps-anti-woke-ai-order-could-reshape-how-us-tech-companies-train-their-models\/\">anti-woke<\/a>\u201d AI order, and instructing the attorney general to investigate <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/04\/17\/here-are-all-the-tech-companies-rolling-back-dei-or-still-committed-to-it-so-far\/\">private companies receiving federal funds <\/a>that have DEI programs deemed \u201cillegal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and other tech leaders attended the president\u2019s inauguration this year. And, in early September, President Trump threw a tech dinner with 33 top names in Silicon Valley, including Altman, Cook, and Zuckerberg.
