Every week, he\u2019s giving away one idea he has come up with over the past decade. Anyone is free to pick an idea up and run with it since he won\u2019t have the time to develop them all.<\/p>\n<p>This week, his idea is about monetizing every cycle of compute by lending it for 3D modeling, protein folding, etc. Check out the <a href=\"https:\/\/coingeek.com\/big-ideas-series-part-3-comp-network\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">COMP Network<\/a> article now.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Who is John Calhoun?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Calhoun first got into Bitcoin when he used it for online sports betting back in the day. He soon learned about Ethereum and the potential to utilize blockchain tech for <a href=\"https:\/\/coingeek.com\/apps\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">applications<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>After following <a href=\"https:\/\/coingeek.com\/the-war-on-bitcoin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the Bitcoin civil war<\/a>, he found the idea of big blocks compelling. He\u2019s very excited about <a href=\"https:\/\/coingeek.com\/how-bsv-teranode-paves-the-way-for-machine-powered-economy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Teranode<\/a> and how it will change the game for big block Bitcoin.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What did Calhoun find most interesting about Bitcoin pre-fork?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wuckert says he found the concept of <a href=\"https:\/\/coingeek.com\/tokenization-of-everything-is-coming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tokenization<\/a> to be the most effective aspect of Bitcoin. Calhoun says he has always found the idea of building on a scalable blockchain to be the most compelling thing.<\/p>\n<p>On the subject of building, Wuckert reminds us there are two main stacks: <a href=\"https:\/\/coingeek.com\/seizing-the-opportunity-in-bitcoin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Bitcoin Schema<\/a> and the Babbage stack. The latter is newer but also great, and its Founding President, <a href=\"https:\/\/coingeek.com\/author\/ty-everett\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ty Everett<\/a>, is deeply involved with the design and implementation of the BRC-100 <a href=\"https:\/\/coingeek.com\/wallets\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wallet<\/a> standard.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Calhoun tells us that, on BTC, BRC is just a token that doesn\u2019t do much\u2014there\u2019s no smart contracting capability, and the fees are too high. However, on BSV, BRC stands for Bitcoin Request for Comment.<\/p>\n<p>BRC-100 is a protocol on which the <a href=\"https:\/\/coingeek.com\/check-out-babbage-metanet-app-catalog-powered-by-the-metanet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Metanet wallet<\/a> is built. Should another wallet come along and build on the same protocol, everything would be interoperable, and apps would work across both with no logic change.\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Bringing down walled gardens like this means apps can be replaced by others, unleashing competition and forcing developers to create the best user experience and value. Applications become interfaces since the data source is the same (the blockchain).<\/p>\n<p><strong>ToolBSV and Calhoun\u2019s projects<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Calhoun and his team are working on several projects, like <a href=\"https:\/\/toolbsv.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">ToolBSV<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>He says they are using <a href=\"https:\/\/coingeek.com\/last-week-in-ai-anthropic-raises-valuation-google-gets-ai-mode\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Claude<\/a> to code, speeding up development substantially. Their main project is now an artificial intelligence (AI) tool powered by <a href=\"https:\/\/coingeek.com\/bitcoin101\/micropayments-and-nanopayments-the-future-of-tiny-payments-through-bitcoin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">micropayments<\/a>, allowing image-to-image and image-to-video generation.<\/p>\n<p>Wuckert calls back to the point about using AI models like Claude to code\u2014his team has also experienced a productivity boom because of it. These tools allow each developer to become a dev team at the admin level while the machines do the coding.<\/p>\n<p>Calhoun mentions his team is also working on two games\u2014Stackers and Star Runner. He loves that people haven\u2019t figured BSV out yet because it gives him a head start that most can\u2019t see coming.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rebuilding the internet along real cypherpunk values<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sticking to the building theme, Wuckert points out that BSVers hold real cypherpunk values\u2014we\u2019re trying to give the world distributed cash, applications, and computation. Yet, when we tell this to small blockers in the BTC camp, all we get is \u201chave fun staying poor\u201d in response. It\u2019s ridiculous, he rightly says.<\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p>In closing, Calhoun reflects on how BSV is now very different from how it was a few years ago. With the Babbage stack and tools like Junglebus, building a wide range of things on BSV is now possible.
