The GOAT tennis player spoke about her 31-pound transformation and detailed how embracing GLP-1\u2019s is exactly the solution she needed, especially after having children and exhausting her other options. <\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cI felt it was important for me to come out and say it,\u201d she began during her<em> TODAY Show<\/em> interview, emphasizing the shame that may come from people who opt for GLP-1\u2019s. \u201cIs it a lazy way? Is it a shortcut?\u201d The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vibe.com\/news\/entertainment\/serena-williams-behind-scenes-surprise-super-bowl-lix-1234993023\/\">Grand Slam champ <\/a>shared that after having her two daughters, she wasn\u2019t able to \u201cbe at a healthy\u201d weight due to her joints, blood sugar levels, age, and other factors no matter what she did. She felt her body was missing something and learned many other women related.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cAs an athlete and as someone that has done everything, I just couldn\u2019t get my weight to where I needed to be at a healthy place, and believe me I don\u2019t take shortcuts. I do everything but shortcuts,\u201d Williams said.<\/p>\n<figure>\n<p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Serena Williams on Why She Chose to Use GLP-1 Medication\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-UNVIVFfjI8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\n\tDespite playing professional tennis and \u201cliterally training five hours a day,\u201d she considered GLP-1\u2019s but was extremely skeptical, initially even saying \u201cdon\u2019t sign me up.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cI literally was playing a professional sport, and I could never go back to where I needed to be for my health, for my healthy weight, no matter what I did,\u201d she said. \u201cI would always lose a lot of weight, and then I would stay. No matter what I did, I couldn\u2019t go lower than that one number.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThere were other health considerations too besides just weight loss; diabetes runs in her family and she also was struggling with pressure on her knees post-partum.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tFinally, she changed her mindset and \u201clooked at it as a sport.\u201d She started viewing weight loss as her \u201copponent.\u201d \u201cI can\u2019t beat this opponent no matter what I do, I have to try something different\u2026 I tried it, and it actually worked,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tWilliams is the latest celebrity to open up about their use of weight loss medications.
