Acclaim is back in action!<\/h3>\n
\n

After 21 years of being lost to the annals of video game history, Acclaim Entertainment is back in the game with a new focus on indie developers. Today, the first-ever Play Acclaim Showcase highlighted nine games that are already part of the new Acclaim’s portfolio, including a few that are available to play right now.<\/p>\n

The selection of Acclaim’s new games is a mixture of sports, side-scrolling action, 2D metroidvania-style games, and at least one game where a pig cleans a bunch of stuff with a hose it’s holding in its mouth. All nine games are brand-new, never-before-seen titles, but there are a few that seem to call back to beloved games from yesteryear.<\/p>\n

Basketball Classic<\/h3>\n

Basketball Classic is a retro 8-bit five-on-five basketball game featuring over 1,000 players modeled after real-world basketball stars, including legends of past eras. It’s available now on PC and “coming soon” to consoles.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Ground Zero Hero<\/h3>\n

Ground Zero Hero is an action-roguelike survival game set in a post-apocalypse where the only way to survive is to eat as much candy as possible. Like GRIDBeat, this is currently only confirmed for release on PC via Steam, but no specific window was provided.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Pixel Washer<\/h3>\n

Pixel Washer puts players in the hooves of an adorable little piggy who must clean the world around him with his little water gun, as the trailer shows him cleaning off vehicles, buildings, and more. It’s slated to launch on PC, but no other platforms were confirmed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Talaka<\/h3>\n

Talaka is a fast-paced, combat-centric roguelite that features a hand-painted world and influences in Afro-Brazilian culture and folklore. Players will fight giant mythical beasts and upgrade their character by finding the gods of the world.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

TossDown<\/h3>\n

TossDown stars a delivery boy who must drop off packages by running, jumping, and avoiding obstacles–which range from cars and other people to exploding missiles and more. Players can also unlock special powers like jet boosts and double jumps.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Prisoning: Fletcher\u2019s Quest<\/h3>\n

The Prisoning follows a game developer suffering from anxiety as he nears the end of his latest project. That anxiety eventually traps him in a metroidvania-style dungeon version of his own mind, and he must fight the negative feelings, among other things, to escape.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Hyper Yuki Snowboard Syndicate<\/h3>\n

Hyper Yuki Snowboard Syndicate features arcade-style snowboard races that hearken back to the days of SSX Tricky. Players will choose from a colorful roster of snowboards and race down mountains, cityscapes, and more, all while performing cool tricks and scoring points.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Katanaut<\/h3>\n

The final game of the Play Acclaim Showcase was Katanaut, a grim and bloody metroidvania set within a delerict spaceship in the middle of nowhere. Players will battle horrific monsters as they try to escape their gruesome situation, all while running into other survivors–and in some cases, their cute pets. Katanaut is available now on PC.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n
