Victor Boniface’s<\/a> dream to play in Serie A with AC Milan<\/a> has ended abruptly, as the deal collapsed after his medical examination raised concerns, Soccernet.ng reports.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Nigerian striker has since returned to Germany, but the Rossoneri\u2019s swift move to secure the signature of Christopher Nkunku has raised eyebrows.<\/p>\n

The 24-year-old was on the verge of swapping Bayer Leverkusen for San Siro, but AC Milan cooled their interest after his medical assessment. <\/a><\/p>\n

While sources suggested red flags during the examination, the club\u2019s decision to sign Chelsea forward Nkunku, who is a player with a much more concerning injury record<\/a>, has sparked speculation that the collapse was not purely down to health concerns, as earlier noted by Soccernet.ng<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Nkuku has endured a torrid spell since moving to Chelsea in 2023, missing over 30 games due to a combination of knee and hamstring problems.<\/p>\n

In contrast, Boniface\u2019s only major setback came last season, when a groin injury sidelined him for a significant part of Leverkusen\u2019s campaign, per Transfermarkt<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Soccer Allegri’s Veto on AC Milan Transfer<\/h2>\n

As earlier reported by Soccernet.ng<\/a>, head coach Massimiliano Allegri may have played a decisive role. Allegri reportedly harboured doubts about Boniface\u2019s fit in his tactical setup. This shows his preference for Nkunku over the Nigerian.<\/p>\n

This only means that medicals may have been a convenient explanation for their decision not to sign the Super Eagles star.<\/p>\n

Soccer Odemwingie on Victor Boniface<\/h2>\n

Former Super Eagles forward Peter Odemwingie had earlier noted that Milan would have been an ideal environment for Boniface.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI think this is a huge opportunity for Victor. He has proved himself in Germany with his goals and work rate, but Milan is a different kind of challenge, a club where the expectations are always high. Playing in Serie A will push him tactically, technically, and mentally, and I believe that will only make him stronger.\u201d he told Footy Africa.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

That dream, however, has been cut short, with Allegri\u2019s call seemingly closing the door.<\/p>\n

This failed deal is a bitter pill to swallow for Boniface and even the Nigerian football fans who might have pictured a link-up between Boniface and Samuel Chukwueze.<\/p>\n

However, this doesn’t end Boniface’s reputation, and top clubs’ interests in his services will remain strong across Europe.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
