{"id":868630,"date":"2025-08-28T21:13:00","date_gmt":"2025-08-29T02:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/28\/worker-dies-at-mace-data-centre-site\/"},"modified":"2025-08-28T21:13:00","modified_gmt":"2025-08-29T02:13:00","slug":"worker-dies-at-mace-data-centre-site","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/28\/worker-dies-at-mace-data-centre-site\/","title":{"rendered":"Worker dies at Mace data centre site"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"wrapper_sleeve\">\n<p><img width=\"368\" height=\"287\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.ca.emap.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2012\/06\/ambulance.jpg\" alt=\"Ambulance\"  decoding=\"async\" fetchpriority=\"high\" ><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>A worker died at a Mace data centre construction site in north-west London on Saturday (23 August).<\/p>\n<p>Emergency services were called to the site, on the North Circular Road in Neasden, at 9.23am, where Mace is working on a facility for Pure Data Centres.<\/p>\n<p>A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: \u201cWe sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars, an incident response officer and paramedics from our hazardous area response team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVery sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a man was pronounced dead at the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/contractors\/mace\/\">Mace<\/a> spokesperson said the man was employed by another contractor at the site.<\/p>\n<p>They added: \u201cWe share our deepest sympathies with their family, friends and colleagues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are supporting the emergency services and Health and Safety Executive with their investigations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A Health and Safety Executive (HSE) spokesperson said that the regulator was aware of the incident and making enquiries, although police have primacy in fatal incidents.<\/p>\n<p>The Metropolitan Police has been contacted for comment but had not replied before this article went live.<\/p>\n<p>In November, Pure Data Centres <a href=\"https:\/\/puredc.com\/newsroom\/company-news\/pure-data-centres-completes-substructure-at-london-expansion\/\">announced<\/a> work was complete on the groundworks and substructure at the facility, which is being built next to one it already operates.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/health-and-safety\/construction-accounts-for-more-than-a-quarter-of-workplace-deaths-03-07-2025\/\">Figures from the HSE released last month<\/a> showed construction remained the worst sector for workplace deaths, accounting for more than a quarter across all industries.<\/p>\n<p>The 35 deaths from April 2024 to March 2025 accounted for 28 per cent of all workplace fatalities in Britain.<\/p>\n<p>It was almost a third lower than the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/health-and-safety\/construction-fatalities-70-worse-than-five-years-ago-04-07-2024\/\">51 construction sector deaths the previous financial year<\/a> and was the lowest figure recorded since 2021\/22, when there were 30 \u2013 a joint-record low.<\/p>\n<p>The second worst industry for fatalities in 2024\/25 was agriculture, forestry and fishing, which accounted for 23 deaths, followed by transport and storage with 15.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/health-and-safety\/worker-dies-at-mace-data-centre-site-28-08-2025\/\" class=\"button purchase\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Read More<\/a><br \/>\n Ian Weinfass<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A worker died at a Mace data centre construction site in north-west London on Saturday (23 August).
