An official Newcastle United injury update followed Monday night\u2019s defeat at St James\u2019 Park.<\/p>\n

To add insult to injury, as well as United\u2019s ten men cruelly denied a point, Eddie Howe also seeing a number of players forced off the pitch.<\/p>\n

Anthony Gordon red carded for a daft challenge on Virgil van Dijk that will see him miss the next three Premier League matches against Leeds, Wolves and Bournemouth.<\/p>\n

Whilst concussion protocols mean that Fabian Schar will miss Leeds on Saturday but should hopefully be ok for Wolves at home two weeks on Saturday.<\/p>\n

On top of those though, injury forcing two other players off as well, Eddie Howe saying the following on Monday night:<\/p>\n

Eddie Howe on Sandro Tonali who was forced off on 66 minutes when trying to carry on after having been dragged to the ground and appearing to injure his shoulder\/arm:<\/p>\n

\u201cSandro doesn\u2019t look good. <\/em>He couldn\u2019t move his arm. <\/em>He wanted to stay on. <\/em><\/p>\n

Eddie Howe on Joelinton who was forced off on 76 minutes when a freak injury left him in obvious pain and he limped off:<\/p>\n

\u201cJoey doesn\u2019t look great to be honest.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Now on Wednesday afternoon, Keith Downie<\/a> who covers Newcastle United for Sky Sports, has given this positive update on the NUFC pair:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cNewcastle are hopeful Sandro Tonali and Joelinton\u2019s respective injuries that saw them subbed against Liverpool aren\u2019t as bad as first feared.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cEddie Howe said post-match on Monday that neither player looked great.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cOfficial confirmation following scans to come but there is now hope neither player will be out for an extended period.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Hopefully Eddie Howe will confirm this positive outlook on Friday at his pre-Leeds press conference, with a bit more detail as well as to how long (how little?) the two midfielders will be missing for.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
