Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has finalized plans to upgrade the football stadium at Bayero University Kano (BUK) as part of his commitment to sports development in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
The initiative comes on the heels of Barau FC\u2014a club founded by the lawmaker\u2014securing promotion from the Nigeria National League (NNL) to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).<\/p>\n

The team was led by his Chief of Staff, Professor Muhammad Ibn Abdallah, accompanied by Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Ismail Mudashir, and Special Adviser on Youths and Sports Development, Comrade Kabiru Ado Lakwaya.<\/p>\n Speaking during the meeting, Professor Abdallah explained that Senator Barau\u2019s intervention is designed to transform the BUK facility into a modern arena capable of hosting national league matches and other football events.<\/p>\n \u201cHis Excellency has asked us to formally inform you of his plans to upgrade your football stadium so that national league and other football activities can be held there.<\/p>\n \u201cAs we all know, he has done many projects to address this institution\u2019s infrastructural gaps. Now, he said BUK has to have an international football facility to benefit the university, its community, and our teeming youths,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n Responding, the Vice Chancellor of BUK, Professor Haruna Musa, expressed appreciation to the Deputy Senate President, noting that the gesture aligned with the vision he presented to the Governing Council upon assuming office.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are happy to receive this good news. Coincidentally, this is also part of the blueprint that I submitted to the University Governing Council when I was applying for the position of Vice Chancellor.<\/p>\n \u201cTherefore, we thank him immensely for this gesture.
