Ever wonder what tune US<\/a> Vice President JD Vance<\/a> is listening to when he\u2019s coming up with brilliant ideas for governing?<\/p>\n

\u2018Right now I\u2019m looking at you and I can\u2019t believe, You don\u2019t know oh-oh, You don\u2019t know you\u2019re beautiful oh-oh, That\u2019s what makes you beautiful\u2026\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n

That\u2019s right, Vance is apparently a big fan of One Direction<\/a> and other boy bands.<\/p>\n

Eight years after the Panama Papers<\/a> leaked 11.5million financial documents of offshore bank accounts, the Panama Playlists<\/a> have surfaced.<\/p>\n

The Panama Playlists, claiming to expose the favourite music<\/a> of politicians, celebrities and other public figures on Spotify<\/a>, may not be too damaging to the individuals. <\/p>\n

But it could be embarrassing \u2013 that is, only if loving boy bands is something to be ashamed of.<\/p>\n

Featured on Vance\u2019s playlists are \u2018What Makes You Beautiful\u2019 by the 2010s pop band One Direction, \u2018I Want It That Way\u2019 by the 1990s band Backstreet Boys<\/a>, and \u2018One Time\u2019 by Canadian singer-songwriter Justin Bieber<\/a>, according to the Panama Playlists.<\/p>\n

Vance also really seems to really like \u2018Get Lucky\u2019 by the electronic music duo Daft Punk<\/a>, \u2018You Are a Tourist\u2019 by \u201990s rock band Death Cab for Cutie, and \u2018San Francisco\u2019 by alternative rock band The Mowgli\u2019s, and has them in two of his playlists named \u2018Making Dinner\u2019 and \u2018Gold On The Ceiling\u2019.<\/p>\n

The anonymous person behind the playlists claims to have been scraping the public figures\u2019 accounts since summer 2024, and know what songs they\u2019ve played and how many times as well as their live listening feed.<\/p>\n

\u2018I found the real Spotify accounts of celebrities, politicians, and journalists. Many use their real names. With a little sleuthing, I could say with near-certainty: yep, this is them,\u2019 states the Panama Playlists website.<\/p>\n

\u2018Heard of the Panama Papers? That exposed offshore bank accounts. This is about onshore vibes.\u2019<\/p>\n

The site, which quietly went live on July 30, is not affiliated with Spotify or any of the individuals analysed.<\/p>\n

Spotify playlists in their default setting are public, for those who did not know, and only public information was gleaned for the Panama Playlists.<\/p>\n

Its eagle-eared researcher is convinced that the figures listed on the site are who they are, due to \u2018lots of signals\u2019, and provided the US attorney general and White House<\/a> press secretary as cases in point.<\/p>\n

\u2018An example is Pam Bondi. Her longtime partner is John Wakefield, and her profile has an old playlist called \u201cjohn\u201d and an old shared playlist with a user named \u201cJohn Wakefield,\u201d so that gives me a lot of confidence it is her account,\u2019 the researcher told the New York Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u2018Karoline Leavitt\u2019s profile has a playlist called \u201cBaby Shower,\u201d and she had a baby a month after the playlist was made.\u2019<\/p>\n

Below are the Panama Playlists of a handful of individuals highlighted on the site \u2013 ranked somewhat in order of how interesting they are.<\/p>\n

Pam Bondi<\/h2>\n

US Attorney General Pam Bondi, who leads the Justice Department, has a self-titled playlist filled with Top 40 hits including Nelly\u2019s \u2018Hot In Herre\u2019, Adele\u2019s \u2018Hello\u2019, Selena Gomez\u2019s \u2018Kill Em With Kindness\u2019, \u2018Hands To Myself\u2019, Black Eyed Peas\u2019 \u2018I Gotta Feeling\u2019, Mike Posner\u2019s \u2018Cooler Than Me\u2019, and USHER, Lil Jon and Ludacris\u2019 \u2018YEAH!\u2019<\/p>\n

Trump<\/a>\u2019s White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has a \u2018Baby Shower\u2019 poppy playlist that includes Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s \u2018Run the World (Girls)\u2019, Shaboozey\u2019s \u2018A Bar Song (Tipsy)\u2019, Lee Ann Womack\u2019s \u2018I Hope You Dance\u2019, Meghan Trainor\u2019s \u2018Mom\u2019 and Aretha Franklin\u2019s \u2018Respect\u2019. <\/p>\n
