\u201cThe Summer of Songbirds\u201d is getting the TV adaptation treatment at Hulu.<\/p>\n
The Disney-owned streamer is in the midst of developing a series adaptation of Kristy Woodson Harvey\u2019s novel, which is set to be written and executive produced by \u201cThe Power\u201d producer Brennan Peters. Woodson Harvey will executive produce the series, which hails from 20th Television and Kapital Entertainment.<\/p>\n
The series will center on three girlfriends and their unbreakable bond forged in their childhood summers spent in North Carolina, exploring the theme of chosen family.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow in their 30s, each grappling with the harsh realities of adulthood, they\u2019re forced to confront secrets and betrayals from both the past and present that threaten to unravel their chosen family,\u201d the official logline reads.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\u00a0Jaiden Kaplan and Tiffany Przybyla-Wong also executive produce the series on behalf of Kapital\u00a0Entertainment.<\/p>\n
Peters served as a co-producer on Prime Video\u2019s \u201cThe Power,\u201d which adapted Naomi Alderman\u2019s novel of the same name to the small screen, wrote and produced \u201cPerry & Emile\u201d and served as a writer on \u201cSacred Lies\u201d for Facebook Watch. Her horror-comedy feature \u201cBait\u201d is being produced by Gloria Sanchez Productions, with Lisa Br\u00fchlmann attached as a director.<\/p>\n
Beyond the screen, Peters\u2019 original musical \u201cDelilah\u201d is in development with the band Delta Rae composing.<\/p>\n
In addition to \u201cThe Summer of Songbirds,\u201d Woodson Harvey has penned \u201cBeach House Rules,\u201d \u201cA Happier Life\u201d and \u201cThe Peachtree Bluff Series,\u201d with many of her books being optioned or in the works as a TV series or film projects. Her books have been featured in \u201cGood Morning America\u2019s\u201d Buzz Pick,\u00a0Southern Living\u2019s\u00a0Most Anticipated Reads, Katie Couric\u2019s Featured Books and Joanna Garcia Swisher\u2019s \u201cThe Happy Place Read.\u201d She won the Lucy Bramlette Patterson Award for Excellence in Creative Writing and was a finalist for the Southern Book Prize.<\/p>\n
Peters\u00a0is repped by\u00a0UTA and Artists First as well as Paradigm for theater. Woodson Harvey is repped by\u00a0CAA\u2019s Olivia Blaustein and Rain\u2019s Jonathan Baruch.<\/p>\n
