Israeli military sources said that Israel would send a \u201cdirect message\u201d to Madleen, the sailing boat\u00a0of Freedom Flotilla Coalition, not to enter Gaza, according to The Jerusalem Post.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, the aid ship set out from the Sicilian port of Catania in southern Italy on a mission\u00a0to break \u201cIsrael\u2019s siege\u201d of the devastated territory, organizers said.<\/p>\n

The activists stated that they will try to reach the shores of\u00a0Gaza<\/a>\u00a0and deliver some aids to Palestinians who are starving due to Israel\u2019s blockade of humanitarian aid.<\/p>\n

As a response, the Israeli military is reportedly deploying troops in the area and waiting for the ship\u2019s arrival. However, it did not reveal a specific plan of action.<\/p>\n

If those on board \u201cdefy orders or provoke\u201d the Israeli army, they may be arrested and transferred to Ashdod port for their deportation.<\/p>\n

Operated by activist group\u00a0Freedom Flotilla Coalition<\/a>, the\u00a0crew includes Climate campaigner Greta Thunberg and 11 other activists.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are doing this because, no matter what odds we are against, we have to keep trying,\u201d Thunberg said.<\/p>\n

The mission also seeks to raise \u201cinternational awareness\u201d over the ongoing humanitarian crisis. \u201cBecause the moment we stop trying is when we lose our humanity. And no matter how dangerous this mission is, it\u2019s not even near as dangerous as the silence of the entire world in the face of the live-streamed genocide,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, \u201cGame of Thrones\u201d actor Liam Cunningham and Rima Hassan, a French member of the European Parliament who is of\u00a0Palestinian<\/a>\u00a0descent joined the crew. Israel has previously banned Hassan from entering due to her obvious opposition to the Israeli war on Gaza.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are breaking the siege of Gaza by sea, but that\u2019s part of a broader strategy of mobilizations that will also attempt to break the siege by land,\u201d said activist Thiago Avila.<\/p>\n

Madleen is set to reach Gaza in the next few days.<\/p>\n
