The rapper-actor, who usually keeps it lowkey and focused on his art, found himself in the middle of one of the biggest scandals in entertainment \u2014 the case against Sean \u2018Diddy\u2019 Combs. And, while he didn\u2019t want any parts of the trial at first, it turns out his decision to take the stand came from a deeply personal place.<\/p>\n

Kid Cudi Reflects On Testifying Against Diddy<\/strong><\/h3>\n

In a recent episode of the \u2018Call Her Daddy\u2019 podcast<\/a> on Wednesday, Aug. 13, Kid Cudi reflected on being called to testify against Combs<\/a> back in May. \u201cI hated every minute of it<\/strong>,\u201d he said bluntly, recalling how he was approached multiple times before finally being subpoenaed. \u201cI was there because I had to be. At first they asked, I said no. They asked again, I said no. Then I got subpoenaed and I was like, \u2018F\u2014. S\u2013\u2013. No.<\/strong>\u2019\u201d Despite all of that, Cudi made it clear he showed up for one reason \u2014 to support his ex, Cassie<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Where Does His Relationship With Cassie Stand?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Kid Cudi didn\u2019t just speak<\/a> about taking the stand in the trial \u2014 he also opened up about where things stand between him and his former flame today. While their romance was brief, he made it clear that the opportunity to testify became less about courtrooms and more about standing in support of someone he still cares for.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought about, when I was up there, \u2018I\u2019m here to support Cassie,’\u201d Cudi shared. \u201cAnd, Cassie is my friend and I love her and I want to see her do well. When I saw her get married, I was so happy that she found someone, her person. When I saw that she was having kids, I was like, \u2018Oh, this is so awesome.\u2019 I\u2019ve always just wanted to see her thrive and do well and be happy, \u2018cause I know she was living a nightmare.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

And, when asked about what gave him peace with testifying, Cudi revealed:<\/p>\n

\u201cI was just there to support her. That\u2019s what kind of gave me peace with it,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen I saw down in that chair, it was just about, \u2018Damn, I don\u2019t want to do this\u2019 to being like, \u2018Oh man, I gotta hold homegirl down and look out for her.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Many praised how solid and loyal he came across, especially as he got visibly emotional while recalling the experience.
