{"id":865083,"date":"2025-08-14T21:11:16","date_gmt":"2025-08-15T02:11:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/14\/severfield-appoints-laing-orourke-director-as-chief-executive\/"},"modified":"2025-08-14T21:11:16","modified_gmt":"2025-08-15T02:11:16","slug":"severfield-appoints-laing-orourke-director-as-chief-executive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsycanuse.com\/index.php\/2025\/08\/14\/severfield-appoints-laing-orourke-director-as-chief-executive\/","title":{"rendered":"Severfield appoints Laing O\u2019Rourke director as chief executive"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"105\">Severfield plc has appointed Paul McNerney as chief executive officer.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"107\" data-end=\"275\">McNerney, currently director for clients and government at Laing O\u2019Rourke, will join the structural steel specialist in the autumn, with a start date to be confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>He will replace Alan Dunsmore, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/supply-chain\/severfield-boss-to-depart-following-profit-warning-26-03-2025\/\">whose departure was announced in March<\/a>, less than a month after the firm issued a profit warning.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"277\" data-end=\"509\">McNerney has more than 25 years\u2019 experience in the construction and engineering sector, including roles as managing director of Laing O\u2019Rourke\u2019s UK construction arm, Select Plant Hire, Explore Manufacturing and Crown House Technologies.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"511\" data-end=\"823\">At Laing O\u2019Rourke, McNerney led the \u00a31.3bn UK construction business, delivering projects across sectors such as stadia, healthcare, life sciences, data centres, aviation and mixed-use developments.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"511\" data-end=\"823\">His portfolio included the Oxford University Humanities campus and Everton\u2019s stadium, both involving Severfield.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"825\" data-end=\"1012\">He has also worked in Australia, establishing infrastructure operations in New South Wales and delivering heavy civil and marine projects, as well as developing new oil and gas markets.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1014\" data-end=\"1164\">McNerney is a chartered surveyor, a member of the CBI UK Competitiveness Committee and serves on the Liverpool\u2013Manchester Railway Partnership Board.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1166\" data-end=\"1398\">Severfield chair Charlie Cornish said McNerney\u2019s strategic and operational experience, particularly in construction, positioned him to lead the group \u201cthrough its rebuilding process to the next phase of its growth and innovation\u201d.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1400\" data-end=\"1557\" data-is-last-node data-is-only-node>McNerney said he looked forward to working with the board, staff and customers to \u201ccontinue building Severfield\u2019s market leadership and long-term success\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/peoplemoves\/severfield-appoints-laing-orourke-director-as-chief-executive-13-08-2025\/\" class=\"button purchase\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Read More<\/a><br \/>\n Colin Marrs<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Severfield plc has appointed Paul McNerney as chief executive officer.
