Meanwhile, income from R&#038;W Civil Engineering and Navitas Engineering, which Octavius bought the previous year, contributed \u00a338.8m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThe growth in the core business was primarily due to growth in the highways business unit,\u201d the company stated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Referring to the five-year railway infrastructure investment cycle, Control Period 7 (2024-29), it added: \u201cIncreased volumes in established frameworks within the rail business unit have also contributed to the increased turnover, supported by a solid start to [the] CP7 period.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Net assets rose 23 per cent to \u00a326.7m. Cash at bank more than doubled to \u00a316m, although net cash generated from operating activities fell from \u00a316.7m to \u00a33.5m.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The firm\u2019s average monthly headcount rose from 598 to 684, a 14.4 per cent increase.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Its directors identified skilled-labour shortages, supply chain fragility and inflation as continuing challenges.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>However, they said Octavius aimed to grow by expanding its presence in rail and highways, and by targeting adjacent infrastructure markets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The directors said framework positions would be used to secure long-term workloads.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>A dividend of \u00a32m was paid to parent company Topham Bidco, which owns the business.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Octavius has rapidly scaled up its operations since<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/cn-intelligence\/data-dashboards\/cn100-turnover-profit-and-margin-23-08-2024\/\"> <span>its creation in 2021<\/span><\/a><span>, following the sale of Geoffrey Osborne\u2019s rail and highways division to private equity firm Sullivan Street.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>It was ranked 80th<\/span> <span>in the 2024<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/cn-intelligence\/data-dashboards\/cn100-turnover-profit-and-margin-23-08-2024\/\"> <span>CN100 table of the UK\u2019s top contractors<\/span><\/a><span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.constructionnews.co.uk\/financial\/octavius-posts-17-revenue-rise-as-rail-wins-drive-growth-14-08-2025\/\" class=\"button purchase\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Read More<\/a><br \/>\n Colin Marrs<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Octavius Infrastructure has reported a 16.7 per cent increase in turnover to \u00a3322.9m for the year to 31 March 2025, driven mainly by growth in railway and highway work.
